id="details-info" class="tab-pane active fr-view" style="margin:2px"> Major Functions This position will support the Resource Stewardship and Parks Recreation and Culture divisions. This position will be located in DeLand, Florida and will be responsible for performing technical work programming, configuring, customizing computer systems and supporting the department's Geographic Information System (GIS) needs by maintaining spatial data, creating maps and reports, assisting with mobile data collection tools, supporting web maps and dashboards, and helping staff use GIS technology effectively.

The ideal candidate does not need to be an expert in every system on day one, but should have a strong foundation in GIS, a willingness to learn, attention to detail, and an interest in improving workflows through technology. Illustrative Duties ( NOTE: These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed.

The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position.) -Code and test computer systems according to specifications and standards. Create, edit, and maintain GIS layers, maps, and related data for Resource Stewardship programs. -Support GIS datasets related to conservation lands, trails, roads, fencing, access points, natural resources, land management, invasive species, and environmental projects. -Assist with the creation and maintenance of web maps, dashboards, Survey123 forms, Field Maps projects, and other Esri-based tools. -Create and maintain technical documentation. -Assist with the implementation of new systems. -Help staff collect, review, update, and visualize field data. -Prepare maps, reports, data summaries, and presentation materials for internal staff, leadership, advisory committees, and public communication. -Perform quality control checks on GIS data, maps, forms, dashboards, and reports. -Assist with basic GIS automation, data cleanup, and recurring mapping workflows. -Support staff by troubleshooting GIS tools, mobile applications, dashboards, and data issues. -Document workflows, procedures, data sources, and application updates. -Participate in special projects involving land acquisition, conservation planning, environmental data, public dashboards, and field operations. -Coordinate with County GIS, Information Technology (IT), department staff, and outside partners as needed. -Works closely with consultants to keep informed on all latest developments. -May be assigned to other county locations based upon operational needs. -Attends work on a regular and consistent basis. -Must adhere to Federal, State, County and Local ordinances. -Responds to emergency situations. -Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements Graduation from high school or possession of GED and five (5) years of experience in Geographic Information Systems, Geomatics, Geospatial and Environmental Informatics, Geography, Cartography, Forestry or other Natural Resource and experience as a programmer. OR Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geomatics, Geospatial and Environmental Informatics, Geography, Cartography, Forestry or other Natural Resource related field and one (1) year of responsible experience as a programmer.

A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum requirements. Must possess a valid driver's license at time of hire. Must obtain a valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire and maintain thereafter.

The preferred candidate, having met the requirements, will have GIS experience in a natural resource and parks management setting, along with knowledge of forest wildlife and habitat requirements, forest management, prescribed fire and trails; an ESRI GISP or Technical Certification is desired. Proficiency with Esri software (ArcGIS Pro, Online, Enterprise, Field Maps, Survey123, Dashboards) is preferred, along with the ability to create maps, maintain GIS data, and perform basic spatial analysis using geodatabases, attribute tables, and map layers.

Experience or interest in Python, SQL, Arcade, or GIS automation is a plus. The ideal candidate communicates technical information clearly to non-technical audiences and is organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn new tools and workflows. NOTE: Candidate may include portfolio if available.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities -Knowledge of geographic information systems, mapping principles, spatial data, and cartographic standards. -Knowledge of Esri software products or ability to learn them. -Ability to edit, organize, analyze, and maintain GIS data. -Ability to create maps, dashboards, reports, and visual products that support decision-making. -Ability to distinguish closely related colors and shades. -Ability to troubleshoot common GIS and data issues. -Ability to document procedures and explain workflows clearly. -Ability to work independently and as part of a team. -Ability to manage multiple tasks and support staff across different program areas. -Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing. -Ability to learn from self-directed study and on-the-job training.

Visual acuity (depth perception and peripheral vision) is necessary to operate a motorized vehicle. Finger dexterity; color acuity necessary to distinguish closely related colors and shades. Environmental Demands: Inside and Outside work.

Ability to traverse uneven/undeveloped terrain. Exposure to inclement weather including humidity, heat, rain, cold, dust, mildew, noise. May be exposed to smoke, herbicides, pesticides, odors and toxic fumes.
