In this position, your work will have a profound impact on the country’s most critical role – protecting our national security.

  • Innovative Projects: KBR’s work is at the forefront of engineering, logistics, operations, science, program management, mission IT and cybersecurity solutions.
  • Collaborative Environment: Be part of a dynamic team that thrives on collaboration and innovation, fostering a supportive and intellectually stimulating workplace.
  • Impactful Work: Your contributions will be pivotal in designing and optimizing defense systems that ensure national security and shape the future of Joint and multi-domain operations.

KBR is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Space Domain Awareness Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join a dynamic, high-performing, multidisciplinary team of military domain SMEs, modelers, and analysts located in Northern Virginia. This team leverages advanced modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) tools and techniques to shape and inform Concept Exploration, Course of Action Analysis, and Operational Planning efforts for Department of War (DoW) stakeholders.

The ideal candidate shall:

  • Apply your expert knowledge of current and emerging US military space satellites, systems, sensors, and employment concepts and of their contribution to the execution of kill chains and kill webs.
  • Assist with the identification and transformation of military or threat space doctrine, tactics, techniques, and procedures into products to inform the development of behaviors and decision structures in the simulation software.
  • Develop space-based behaviors and concepts of operations (CONOPS) for use by modelers and other operational SMEs in the MS&A environment.
  • Drive innovation by bridging traditional operational planning and novel analytical approaches through creative and critical thinking.
  • Leverage your deep understanding of joint, multi-domain military capabilities, and space employment frameworks to evaluate the execution of kill chains and kill webs.
  • Collect, analyze, and curate authoritative military information—including doctrine, planning materials, and capability documents—in a “smart” knowledge management environment that enables enterprise-wide insight and collaboration.
  • Deliver high-quality, high-impact written, visual, and analytical deliverables that inform senior decision-making.
  • Lead small teams or tasks in support of the broader overall effort.
  • Bachelor’s degree and 14+ years of relevant experience in US Air Force, US Space Force, or other Service space-based operations and architectures
  • Direct experience developing space-based concepts of operation, concepts of support, and/or courses of action in support of Joint or Service Component Operational Planning efforts
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a small, high-performance team environment
  • Strong collaborative skills with experience working in expert-driven, multidisciplinary teams
  • Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 16+ years of relevant experience in US Air Force, US Space Force, or other Service space-based operations and architectures
  • Extensive experience planning at a combatant command or service component command
  • Experience supporting analytical studies of military operations
  • 2+ years of experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) techniques and tools

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
