Full job description

Burke's seeks an Assistant to the Athletic Director to help support our robust Upper School athletics program by collaborating closely with the Athletic Director.

Responsibilities for the school year fall from August to May.

- Collaborate with Athletic Director to review league schedules and calendars to create game schedules for each team - Take over primary responsibilities of the Athletic Director when out for league meetings or other reasons

- Coach one team per season (three seasons in a school year); we offer cross-country, volleyball, basketball, and soccer/futsal - Assist in coordinating needs of teams and team practices:

- Distribution of uniforms - Set up for practices such as putting up or taking down equipment, organizing space sharing, distributing equipment to practice spaces - Help supervise morning and afternoon practices and student pick-up

- Set up for games including nets, bleachers, chairs, and scoreboard - Communicate with referees and visiting coaches and teams - Score-keeping for volleyball, basketball and futsal games, including setting up the scorebook with rosters in advance of the game

- Organize communication for parents/guardians of student athletes so they are aware of practice and game schedules as well as carpool needs - Use the schools LMS system to input information into the calendar - Support the organization of parent carpools to get players to away games and competitions

- Some college - Experience in education, preferably at the middle school level - Experience in coaching a team sport preferred; interest in learning required - Commitment to:

- Understanding of, and appreciation for the social-emotional development of adolescent girls - Excellent communication skills with students, families, and colleagues - Flexible - Creative - Possess a growth mindset and openness to feedback

Burke's offers competitive compensation. This role is 12 - 15 hours/week at an hourly rate of $36/hour.
