Full job description

The Innovation Architect – Product Design role is responsible for transforming raw innovation ideas into well-defined, investable opportunities that advance Mercer Health's goal of market leadership in digital and AI solutions. This role sits within the Health Innovation Studio and works collaboratively alongside a team of Innovation Architects — bringing product thinking, human-centered design, and AI-enabled process reimagination to the innovation intake process.

By bringing structure, rigor, and strategic framing to the work, this individual helps ensure the organization is solving the right problems in the right order, with a clear path from concept to prioritized opportunity.

  • Partner with Innovation Architects and idea submitters to guide innovation concepts through structured discovery and refinement.
  • Facilitate workshops and working sessions to define the root problem, challenge assumptions, and shape clear opportunity briefs.
  • Apply a product mindset to assess ideas for user need, market opportunity, strategic fit, and feasibility.
  • Thrive and be motivated by an environment that embraces AI and technology-enabled tools.
  • Reimagine business processes through the lens of AI and human collaboration to identify high-value innovation opportunities.
  • Prepare decision-ready materials for Innovation Council review, including prioritization inputs and value framing.
  • Help improve the innovation intake process by building better tools, templates, and evaluation frameworks.
  • 5+ years of experience in product management, product strategy, management consulting, or innovation program management.
  • Experience in digital transformation, AI product development, or enterprise technology strategy.
  • Strong facilitation skills with a proven ability to drive alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Excellent structured thinking and problem-definition skills, with the ability to move from vague concepts to clear opportunity briefs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with both executive and operational audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience shaping AI-enabled products, workflows, or enterprise transformation initiatives.
  • A track record of turning ambiguous ideas into prioritized, actionable innovation opportunities.
  • Familiarity with willingness-to-pay analysis, value quantification, or investment readiness frameworks.
  • Experience building or improving innovation intake, triage, or governance processes.
  • A consultative mindset with the ability to balance creative thinking and business rigor.
  • We help you be your best through professional development opportunities, interesting work and supportive leaders.
  • We foster a vibrant and inclusive culture where you can work with talented colleagues to create new solutions and have impact for colleagues, clients and communities.
  • Our scale enables us to provide a range of career opportunities, as well as benefits and rewards to enhance your well-being.
