Full job description

Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Support

- Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions regarding policies, procedures, and workplace concerns

- Support employee relations matters with professionalism, confidentiality, and care

- Partner with leaders of various levels on de-escalation of employee relations matters and resolutions

- Assist managers with performance management, coaching, and documentation

HR Operations & Compliance

- Maintain accurate employee records and documentation in the HRIS

- Serve as a subject matter expert for HRIS questions and solutions

- Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., FLSA, ADA, EEO)

- Assist with policy development, updates, and communication

- Support audits, reporting, and personnel actions

- Ensure FMLA and ADA policies and procedures are implemented, trained on, and followed.

Performance & Development

- In partnership with the L & D Specialist, support annual performance review processes and goal setting

- Partner with Learning & Development to support training and professional growth initiatives

- Process all internal promotions, transfers, and job changes in a timely and accurate manner.

Qualifications
Required

- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field

- 3+ years of experience in a human resources role with generalist responsibilities

- Working knowledge of HR best practices and employment law

- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills

- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and sound judgment

Preferred

- Experience working in a nonprofit, museum, or cultural institution

- Familiarity with HRIS platforms and applicant tracking systems (UKG a plus)

- Professional certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR)
