Software Engineer 3, .NET (C#/WPF)

The Agent Desktop team builds and operates the core tools used by eBay's global customer support agents to deliver fast, accurate, and high-quality customer experiences. These applications are central to how agents interact with customers and internal systems, directly impacting agent productivity and customer satisfaction at scale .

- Build and develop desktop applications and features using C#, .NET, and WPF

- Build intuitive, efficient user-facing workflows for support agents

- Connect desktop applications to backend systems through REST/SOAP APIs (JSON/XML)

- Write and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure high-quality releases

- Identify, fix, and resolve issues across UI, service integration, and performance layers

- Participate in code reviews, build discussions, and Agile ceremonies

- Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, QA, and global engineering teams

- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and release processes

- Continuously improve system reliability, maintainability, and performance

- Delivers well-scoped features independently with clean, maintainable code

- Applies strong fundamentals in object-oriented building, debugging, and testing

- Shows expertise in C#, .NET, and desktop application development

- Builds solutions with attention to performance, usability, and reliability

- Owns components or features end-to-end with minimal supervision

- Provides reliable estimates and delivers results in an Agile environment

- Proactively identifies risks, dependencies, and technical gaps

- Breaks down moderately complex problems into manageable solutions

- Solves problems effectively across UI, services, and data layers

- Uses structured debugging and data-driven approaches to resolve issues

- Communicates clearly with engineering, product, and QA partners

- Actively participates in team discussions, code reviews, and build sessions

- Works effectively with multi-functional and distributed teams

- Writes clean, testable, and well-documented code

- Follows guidelines in version control, CI/CD, and code quality

- Contributes to improving team processes and development standards

- BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience

- 4-8 years of software development experience

- Solid background in C#, .NET, and WPF for desktop application development

- Experience working with and incorporating REST/SOAP APIs (JSON/XML)

- Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases

- Familiarity with NoSQL/document-based datastores (e.g., MongoDB, Cosmos DB, DynamoDB)

- Experience with Git and modern development workflows

- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills

- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments

- Experience with modern UI frameworks (React, Angular) and web application development

- Experience with test automation and CI/CD integration

- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot)

- Experience working on customer support tools or applications and passionate about improving workflows

- Exposure to performance optimization and observability practices

- Experience working with or migrating to document-based/NoSQL data models

- Certified Application Developer (or equivalent certification) is a plus

- Location: Austin or Salt Lake City, USA

- Work Model: Hybrid (combination of in-office and remote work)

- Live coding session with screen sharing using an IDE

- Evaluation of coding ability, problem-solving approach, and communication

- Exploration of real-world situations involving desktop applications and integrations

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below: $98,000 - $173,600

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave).
