What you have Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrated enterprise application development experience using Java/J2EE and object-oriented engineering practices.
  • Ability to design, build, modernize, and support scalable Java applications using Microservices, REST APIs, and cloud-ready architecture patterns.
  • Demonstrated Technical Leadership through architecture guidance, design reviews, code reviews, mentoring, and cross-team technical influence.
  • Strong Systems Engineering experience designing secure, resilient, highly available solutions that support business-critical platforms.
  • Strong Experience with Spring Boot, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Splunk and cloud-based platforms.
  • Experience applying DevOps practices, CI/CD principles, production deployment discipline, and continuous improvement across the SDLC.
  • Experience with database technologies such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or equivalent relational database platforms.
  • Ability to partner effectively with product, architecture, cybersecurity, infrastructure, operations, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into secure and maintainable technology solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in financial services, retirement services, brokerage, banking, or another highly regulated industry.
  • Experience leading modernization initiatives, cloud migration, legacy platform transformation, or platform evolution efforts.
  • Experience with Docker, Grafana, Google Cloud, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, BDD, or TDD.
  • Experience developing event-driven or asynchronous applications on cloud platforms.
  • Experience establishing engineering standards, architecture governance practices, technical design patterns, and review processes.
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools or modern software engineering practices to improve developer productivity and solution quality.
  • Learning Opportunities
  • In this role, you will continue developing deeper expertise in retirement technology platforms, enterprise architecture practices, cloud-ready modernization, production resiliency, and secure software delivery. You will also strengthen your ability to influence architecture decisions across teams, partner with enterprise stakeholders, and guide engineers through complex modernization and delivery efforts.
  • Skill Development Values

Schwab values continuous learning, technical excellence, collaboration, and growth. This role offers meaningful opportunities to expand your leadership influence, deepen your engineering craft, and contribute to platforms that support clients’ long-term financial goals. You will be part of a team that values integrity, service, innovation, accountability, and shared success.

"In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities."
