Momofuku was founded by chef David Chang in 2004 with the opening of Momofuku Noodle Bar in New York City. Credited with "the rise of contemporary Asian-American cuisine" by the New York Times and named the "most important restaurant in America" by Bon Appétit magazine, Momofuku has restaurants in the New York, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas as well as Momofuku Goods, a line of restaurant-grade products for home cooks.
Kabawa and Bar Kabawa are the forthcoming projects from Chef Paul Carmichael and Momofuku. They are dedicated to celebrating Caribbean culture in the East Village and reflect Chef Paul's culinary journey.
The Kabawa Server Assistant is warm, hospitable, yet professional and exacting while providing above and beyond service in line with Momofuku standards and values. The Server Assistant is a well-presented, organized individual who wants to be part of a team that tests limits.
- Provide knowledgeable, approachable, efficient, and energetic service at all times
- Coordinate with Server on smooth management of the section, emphasizing optimal pacing for the guest experience
- Maintain full menu knowledge for both food and beverage items, including all allergen information. This may include ingredient provenance and simple descriptions of unfamiliar ingredients or preparation methods.
- Ensure proper table maintenance, including water service, pre-bussing, etc.
- Assist the Server with effectively and respectfully communicating service and/or guest irregularities, such as 86s or other menu changes, to all FOH & BOH team members
- Assist the Maitre D in table turn time management and resetting for the next seating
- Set up, detail, and break down the floor and service stations to standards required
- Set up and detail dining room and stations to standards required
- Recognize key people in the industry, VIP guests and contacts related to the company and follow company protocol related to their visit
- Communicate respectfully and clearly with service team and management
- Support team members in the completion of their duties to ensure satisfaction of all guest before, during, and after service
- Additional service and/or operational tasks as determined by manager
- A positive and enthusiastic attitude, as well as a desire to learn, grow, and develop new skills
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and resolve guest conflict
- Willing to accept guidance in a positive manner and implement the direction in a way that is productive for both you and the team
- Able to work in a standing/walking position for long periods of time
- Ability to demonstrate quick thinking and adaptability in a constantly changing environment
- 2+ years of experience as a Server, Captain, or related role in a restaurant with a comparable service style and/or cuisine
- Ability to train new Float Servers in all aspects and responsibilities of the role
- A proven track record of dependability and a continuous focus on learning and development
- The physical demands for this position are seeing, hearing, speaking, reaching, frequently lifting up to 25 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, sitting, standing, for 4 to 8 hours, bending, and moving intermittently during working hours. These physical requirements may be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodations.
