Raytheon is looking for a Principal Engineer to join our Space & Airborne Power & Digital Department, supporting our analog mechanism control designs. The applicant will support designs of Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA) and Units that provide power and control for mechanisms and other external devices, with special emphasis on design for manufacturing, assembly, test, and cost.

  • Lead or Support Digital and/or analog designs for avionics systems
  • Enhance electrical engineering skills by working with digital and/or analog hardware testing and debugging complex circuit card assemblies or electro-mechanical systems. Prior hands-on troubleshooting experience is preferred
  • Support component level design and test reviews
  • Collaboration with both Functional and Program higher level management.
  • Collaboration with Customer and Suppliers
  • Assignment may require some travel (~10%)
  • Assignments may include being a team member or guiding a team through several phases of hardware systems lifecycle such as designs and analysis; architecting new electronic systems; developing and documenting subsystem requirements and test plans; peer reviews of designs as a subject matter expert; presentations to peers, management, and government customers; and root-cause failure investigations
  • A Bachelors Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics related field and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Analog, digital, and power electronics design, integration, and production support
  • Experience in Analog/Digital sub-systems, systems engineering, requirement development, requirement validation, Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) Design, Test Integration and/or Supplier Management.
  • Proficient in digital design tools for CCA Schematic Capture, Interconnect Capture and Harness Design
  • Advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or related engineering degrees.
  • Systems engineering thought process with analytical skills background.
  • Highly self-motivated individual that can perform multidiscipline work
  • Electrical subsystems typically contain motors, EO/IR Sensors, servo drive circuit cards, digital circuit cards, and configurable logic so the ideal candidate will have a background in designing and troubleshooting of one or more of these components. Ideal candidates will also have experience in project leadership, systems engineering and architecture and have a desire to grow to a higher level.
  • Able to network and/or influence outside of the Department with other design and production support organizations, program leadership, other engineering disciplines and Manufacturing organizations.
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively with peers, suppliers, management, and customers in a production environment.
  • Proven experience in balancing engineering process discipline and innovation for rapid development and program success.
  • Experience working with satellite or similar systems.
  • Ability to effectively work multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Knowledge of mixed signal electronics.
  • Practical experience in all phases of the product development lifecycle.

The salary range for this role is 95,500 USD - 181,700 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
