Your Opportunity

At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.

As a Senior Manager, Employee Transition Risk Management, you will play a critical role in protecting Schwab's clients, confidential information, and business interests. As a key member of the Employee Transition Practice, you will serve as a trusted advisor on matters involving departing client-facing representatives, trade secret protection, and client attrition risk.

Partnering closely with legal colleagues, business leaders, and external counsel, you will help manage complex employee transition matters, support litigation and arbitration activities, and develop strategies that safeguard Schwab's reputation, clients, and competitive position.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead Strategic Employee Transition Matters

  • Monitor employee departures, account transfers, and client attrition trends to identify and mitigate risk.
  • Assess complex transition matters and develop solutions aligned with business objectives and risk management priorities.
  • Support escalations related to the hiring and onboarding of client-facing professionals from other financial institutions.
  • Partner Across Legal and Business Teams

  • Collaborate with legal partners, business leaders, and outside counsel to drive effective outcomes.
  • Provide guidance on confidentiality obligations, trade secrets, and employee transition matters.
  • Identify emerging risks and recommend practical solutions that balance legal, regulatory, and business considerations.
  • Support Litigation and Arbitration Activities

  • Assist with litigation and arbitration matters involving trade secrets, confidentiality obligations, client solicitation, and related employment issues.
  • Conduct research, discovery, witness interviews, document analysis, and case preparation.
  • Review pleadings, submissions, and supporting materials to advance case strategy.
What you have

To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

Required Qualifications:
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of legal support, litigation support, paralegal, compliance, employee relations, or related experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate complex situations and develop practical, business-focused solutions.
  • Exceptional emotional intelligence, relationship management, and stakeholder partnership skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to both legal and non-legal audiences.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure, manage competing priorities, and navigate ambiguous situations.
  • Proven ability to work independently, exercise discretion, and manage sensitive and confidential matters with professionalism.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to drive multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting matters involving confidentiality obligations, trade secrets, non-solicitation agreements, or employee transition-related issues.
  • Paralegal certificate.
  • Experience supporting litigation, arbitration, investigations, or other complex legal matters.
  • Demonstrated confidence, decisiveness, and the ability to influence outcomes through sound judgment and effective collaboration.
  • Intellectual curiosity, resilience, and a proactive approach to solving complex problems.
  • A strong sense of ownership, pride in delivering high-quality work, and a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
  • What’s in it for you

At Schwab, you’re empowered to shape your future. We champion your growth through meaningful work, continuous learning, and a culture of trust and collaboration—so you can build the skills to make a lasting impact. Our Hybrid Work and Flexibility approach balances our ongoing commitment to workplace flexibility, serving our clients, and our strong belief in the value of being together in person on a regular basis.

We offer a competitive benefits package that takes care of the whole you – both today and in the future:

  • Paid time for vacation, volunteering, and 28-day sabbatical after every 5 years of service for eligible positions
  • Paid parental leave and family building benefits
