The Software Engineer II will perform all duties in the software development process ranging from requirements definition and design through implementation, integration, test, deployment, and improvement, with a primary focus on full stack development — React-based web applications, backend services and APIs, and cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure — for enterprise-level dental imaging and treatment planning platforms.

The position utilizes knowledge in their own domain while still acquiring higher-level knowledge and skills to solve straightforward problems. The position builds personal knowledge of the company, process, and customers to analyze possible solutions using standard procedures and receives moderate level of guidance and direction.

  • Participates in cross-functional teams to define and analyze requirements for new features or enhancements to products.
  • Estimates development efforts and provides accurate work progress status.
  • Produces and maintains all software engineering deliverables including software documentation, code, test plans and test results.
  • Assures that deliverables meet all relevant quality, safety, regulatory, serviceability, and reliability requirements.
  • Reviews code proposals and submissions of teammates individually and in Design Reviews.
  • Develops backend services and RESTful APIs using C#/.NET for dental imaging and treatment planning platforms, and contributes to the design of authentication and authorization features (JWT, SSO, RBAC).
  • Develops React-based web application features, including user interfaces for dental imaging viewers.
  • Builds and deploys applications to Microsoft Azure, including containerized applications (Docker), and supports monitoring, logging, and alerting.
  • Develops and maintains database queries and schemas for patient records, study management, and imaging metadata (SQL Server/PostgreSQL) with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Contributes to DICOM and intraoral X-ray ingestion and processing pipelines, including background job processing for imaging workflows.
  • Implements security measures for sensitive medical data following established patterns, including encryption, role-based access control, and support for HIPAA and GDPR compliance.
  • Maintains and enhances CI/CD pipelines that support regulatory compliance.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, or related engineering disciplines.
  • 3+ years of related experience in related field.
  • C#, .NET, backend service and API development.
  • Exposure to Azure services (e.g., App Services, Functions, Azure SQL, Blob Storage) and containerized applications (Docker).
  • React, TypeScript, and related frontend technologies; user interface development
  • SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL database development.
  • Familiarity with authentication and authorization concepts (JWT, SSO, OAuth 2.0, RBAC).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and YAML.
  • Interest in or exposure to medical imaging standards and workflows (DICOM, intraoral imaging).
  • Awareness of security and privacy requirements for healthcare data (HIPAA, GDPR).
  • Software development in an FDA-regulated industry or other regulated environment.
  • Experience working within a prescribed software development process.
