As a Software Development Engineer II (Fullstack), you can expect to: - Lead contributions to Mapbox Studio, our flagship map design tool. Studio is a complex React / Redux app that requires fluency in Javascript, Typescript, and web technologies.

Bring clarity to complex technical problems across the organization. - Participate in the design process by listening to users, attending design critiques, and providing guidance and feedback informed by a deep understanding of technical constraints. - Reduce technical debt, share your knowledge, and invest in your teammates' health and happiness, while optimizing application performance and accelerating feature velocity. - Promote a culture of operational excellence by meticulously testing and monitoring our systems and code, writing documentation, and being on-call to support the health of our services.

WHAT WE BELIEVE ARE IMPORTANT TRAITS FOR THIS ROLE - Expertise in Modern Frontend Architecture: You have a proven track record of building full-featured client-side applications using React and TypeScript (ES6+), with a deep understanding of HTML5 and CSS3. - Backend Infrastructure: 3+ years of experience building and maintaining scalable high volume low latency backend services and CI/CD pipelines. - Performance Optimization: A sophisticated understanding of frontend architecture for large-scale, data-intensive applications, with a focus on memory management and rendering efficiency. - AI Usage: Proficiency using AI as a sounding board and productivity multiplier while maintaining a trust but verify approach auditing AI-generated code for security, performance, and architectural integrity. - State Management Mastery: You are proficient in designing complex application and component states using solutions like Redux, ensuring scalable and maintainable data flow. - Fullstack Integration: You have extensive experience integrating RESTful APIs and a functional understanding of cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS. - Quality Assurance: You are comfortable working with testing frameworks such as Playwright or Jest to ensure code reliability and performance. - Operational Excellence: You take pride in the long-term health of your systems, including monitoring metrics, triaging regressions, and proactively resolving customer-facing issues. - Autonomy and Execution: You can independently navigate the full development lifecycle, translating design specifications into high-quality, production-ready code. - Collaborative Mindset: You possess a strong desire to mentor peers, engage in pair programming, and document your expertise to elevate the entire engineering team.

NICE TO HAVE TRAITS FOR THIS ROLE - Geospatial Expertise: Prior experience working with web mapping technologies or geospatial data visualization.
