ASL Courtroom Interpreter

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY Under supervision, Court Interpreter - American Sign Language (ASL) performs a wide variety of ASL interpretation services, in person or via remote videoconferencing, for Los Angeles Superior Court.

Incumbents provide interpretation services for hearing-impaired jurors in non-courtroom settings, such as orientation and jury deliberation, as well as provide language access services to deaf and/or hard-of-hearing persons as mandated by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS To qualify, you must meet the following requirement at the time of application: Possession of a valid certificate as a "Certified Court Interpreter" for American Sign Language (ASL) issued by the Judicial Council of California on behalf of the State of California.

ELIGIBILITY: Applicants who best meet job-related qualifications will be placed on an eligible list which will remain active for approximately one (1) year and may be invited to participate in a selection interview.
