Student Research Assistant - Jazz Education/Physiology

A student to assist in the research efforts to promote a music education book.

Responsibilities The student will produce music transcription, some artwork, and music notation.

Required Qualifications The student must possess knowledge of music composition and have completed Theory IV (or be concurrently enrolled in Theory IV).

Students must demonstrate competence in chord structures characterized by syncopation and complex rhythmic expression. Desired Qualifications Desirable but not necessary are a history of polyphonic improvisation and non-linear melodic lines, as used in the Afro-Caribbean works of Louis Moreau Gottschalk.
