Full job description

The General Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the day‑to‑day upkeep, repair, and appearance of a workforce accommodations facility. This role focuses on general maintenance activities rather than licensed trade work and plays a key part in keeping accommodations, common areas, and support buildings safe, functional, and presentable.

The work may include repairs, painting, grounds maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, and support to other maintenance and operations teams. Experience maintaining commercial kitchen equipment is considered a strong asset.

Reporting to the Facility Manager, the General Maintenance Technician works hands‑on across the site to address maintenance needs promptly and professionally.

  • Performing general maintenance and minor repairs, including:
  • Painting and surface touch‑ups
  • Drywall patching and minor carpentry
  • Replacing light fixtures, bulbs, and filters
  • Adjusting doors, locks, hinges, and hardware
  • Supporting grounds maintenance, including cleanup, landscaping, and seasonal tasks such as vegetation control and lease maintenance.
  • Assisting with inspection and upkeep of buildings and common areas
  • Troubleshooting and performing minor repairs on equipment and appliances
  • Supporting maintenance of commercial kitchen equipment (e.g., ovens, refrigerators, dishwashers) under direction
  • Completing basic preventative maintenance tasks and checklists
  • Reporting larger repair needs or safety concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Using hand and power tools safely and appropriately
  • Assisting other trades or contractors as required
  • Previous experience in general maintenance, facilities support, or building upkeep preferred
  • Practical experience with repairs, painting, and grounds maintenance
  • Experience maintaining or troubleshooting commercial kitchen equipment is an asset
  • Comfortable using hand tools and basic power tools
  • Ability to work independently and manage daily maintenance tasks
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
  • Physically capable of standing for extended periods and lifting up to 35–50 pounds
  • Willingness to follow all safety procedures and site policies
  • Previous experience in general maintenance, facilities support, or building upkeep preferred
