- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering or field related to construction.
- Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience
- Experience in a construction cost management role such as Cost Manager, Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, Cost Engineer, Project Engineer, Project Cost Controls etc.
- Experience providing conceptual estimating services and/or pre-construction services at a construction management or related firm.
- Experience supporting large scale construction projects and programs
- Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, such as value management and value engineering.
- Excellent communication skills. Turner & Townsend are seeking an experienced Senior MEP Cost Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide detailed and accurate cost reviews for electrical systems and/or mechanical systems and present findings to the client and assist in price negotiations for construction projects, ensuring effective cost management and project success.
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for electrical systems in construction projects.
- Estimating and negotiating change orders throughout the construction lifecycle.
- Reconcile changes and assist the general contractor to ensure that their data is accurate.
- Prepare written comments to the general contractor’s submissions, including the executive summary.
- Coordinate all sources of cost information for cost discussions and suppliers direct from NPA, subs, quantities from A/Es.
- Manage cost checks and carry out valuations on larger projects. Complete timely, accurate cost checking and valuation processes.
- Participate effectively with post-contract cost variances and the change of control processes.
- Reviewing contractor and subcontractor pricing and leading negotiations on behalf of the client to drive fair contract prices.
- Display excellence in leadership and service delivery on commissions is in line with the conditions of appointment

- Review project plans and specifications to determine the scope of work and required materials.
- Analyze project requirements and provide value engineering options.
- Perform cost risk analysis and provide input into value engineering.
- Communicate and collaborate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Utilize industry-specific estimating software and tools to prepare estimates.
- Provide estimating advice, guidance, and analysis to project stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry-specific estimating processes and methodologies.
- Prepare formal estimating reports, including quantity, cost, escalation, and other assumptions and clarifications.
- Mentor and support junior estimators, fostering their professional development and promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
