Our Construction Engineering practice works with fabricators, erectors, construction managers and general contractors to provide connection design, temporary stability analysis, design of structures delegated to the contractor, design of industrial structures, and construction means-and-methods engineering. There will be an emphasis on the development of relationships with current, but also new clients to grow the practices revenue potential.
The core areas of focus for growth are providing structural and construction engineering services for the construction industry.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our new Phoenix office. As one of the founding members of our growing team, this position offers the chance to help establish Thornton Tomasetti's presence in one of the country's fastest-growing markets while playing an integral role in the office's long-term success.
The Project Engineer will contribute to a diverse portfolio of challenging projects, including government, healthcare, sports, commercial, and mission-critical facilities.
Responsibilities also include tower crane and skip hoist engineering, shoring and reshoring design, contractor support engineering, erection engineering, and the design of delegated structures. This is an on-site position based in Phoenix, Arizona, providing a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact while helping build a new office and collaborating on innovative, complex project
- Assist in the direction, coordination, planning, organization, integration, and completion of engineering projects within the area of assigned responsibility.
- Communicate with clients to understand project requirements.
- Plan and formulate engineering program and organize project staff according to project requirements.
- Perform analysis and design of structural systems for all types of buildings and materials using various building codes.
- Manage other design team members and supervise the work of engineers and draft persons.
- Manage project design and deliverables as well as other design team members, supervise the work of engineers and modelers, and direct project staff in preparing contract documents such as drawings and specifications.
- Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- 4+ years of experience of delivering complex technical design projects.
- Working knowledge of current industry software, including SAP2000, ETABS, RAM, Risa3-D, PCA Software, Revit, and AutoCAD. Working knowledge of Tekla is a plus.
- Ability and willingness to travel locally in Philadelphia region with potential for occasional US travel.
