ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The QA Engineer Apprentice is an entry-level role that assists with manual testing, defect reporting, and test documentation while gradually gaining independence. This position prepares individuals to manage basic testing responsibilities independently and supports QA Engineers. Completes assigned tasks on time with supervision.
Learns to manage small workloads and escalates issues proactively. Assists Quality Analyst Engineer I and Quality Analyst Engineer II with testing. Performs manual testing accurately under guidance.
Reports defects clearly, pays attention to details, and follows test documentation standards. Collaborates with Quality Analyst Engineers and team members to learn best practices. Supports team tasks and actively participates in meetings and trainings.
Develops the ability to recognize basic testing priorities and risks. Seeks clarification when uncertain about tasks or findings. Consistently meets testing deadlines and delivers high-quality test results with minimal disruption to the development cycle.
Takes initiative in identifying potential issues early and communicates them proactively to the appropriate team members. Communicates test results and issues clearly. Asks questions and listens attentively to feedback.
Applies basic problem-solving to assigned testing tasks. Open to experimenting with simple automation tools. Demonstrates initiative to learn and improve.
Follows direction effectively. Keeps test cases and defect reports organized under supervision. Begins to learn how to prioritize daily work.
Positive, curious, and willing to accept feedback. Patient and persistent when facing challenges. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS Working on a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Basic understanding of software testing principles. Willingness to learn automation fundamentals. Good attention to detail and problem-solving mindset ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE JOB Communication and Comprehension Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
Proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing English to support professional correspondence and collaboration. Strong interpersonal and public communication skills to represent Liberty University in a professional manner. Strong organizational skills.
Problem Solving Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; ability to assess situations, evaluate information, and solve both routine and complex problems using sound judgment. Physical and Sensory Abilities Frequently required to perform desk-based work, including computer use and data entry. Ability to communicate effectively in meetings and collaborative settings, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Market benchmarks may be used, as appropriate, in combination with internal equity to ensure pay is fair and aligned with the broader compensation structure.
