This is great opportunity to join Academy of Art University's globally acclaimed School of Jewelry and Metal Arts. Share your talent and knowledge with our students as they explore their creativity, define their vision and reach their true potential as an artist. This position reports to the Director, School of Jewelry & Metal Arts, and is on-site in San Francisco.

Responsibilities: Responsible for all aspects of teaching assigned classes, including, but not limited to, preparing for the class, implementing a syllabus and course outline, communicating with students, evaluating and grading students, maintaining current and accurate records that require online entry of student data, including attendance, progress grades, midterm grades and final grades.

Complete and submit all progress grades as well as mid-term and final grades. Provide timely feedback to students to aid in the academic learning process. Email students who are absent from class within the same day.

Communicate concerns to other University departments as needed (i.e. ARC, Athletics, Student Services, etc.). Perform additional instructor duties in addition to the class load schedule, as assigned by the Department Director.

These additional duties may include, but not be limited to, workshops, directed study sessions, portfolio reviews, and other instructional work.

Qualifications: BFA or MFA as well as prior teaching experience is preferred. Demonstrate proficiency in the following: basic jewelry and metal arts skills, etching, intermediate stone setting and pattern chains. Knowledge of textile techniques in metal; knitting, crochet and basket weaving is required for several courses.

Have the ability to effectively teach students who have little or no experience in jewelry making. Experience with non-toxic and low-toxic print materials and clean-up methods. Ability to work independently, troubleshoot studio issues, and communicate studio needs.

Ensure best practices and all safety procedure are followed.

Compensation: Starting at $43.00 per hour for teaching and $19.18 per hour for all other non-teaching work. No Application Deadline: Academy of Art University accepts applications on an ongoing basis for this position. **Please submit a portfolio of work along with your resume**
