Key Responsibilities

The Technical Project Manager (TPM) is part of a multidisciplinary Project Management Office within the Applied Materials Display CVD organization and leads cross‑functional technical projects from concept through execution, ensuring scope, schedule, cost, and quality targets are met. The successful candidate is a proactive, collaborative leader who partners closely with engineering and business stakeholders to define requirements, build and maintain integrated plans, track risks and dependencies, and provide clear status reporting while identifying delivery pain points and implementing scalable, productivity‑focused project management solutions.

Projects may include new product introductions (NPI), R&D initiatives, continuous improvement programs (CIP), and standard system orders.

  • Develop, publish, and manage detailed project plans, schedules, and task tracking using standard project management tools (e.g., reports, trackers, checklists, and scheduling software), while continuously improving these tools through automation and standardization.
  • Coordinate and align cross‑functional teams of mechanical, electrical, process, and software engineers, as well as external partners as needed, to deliver against project requirements and timelines; collaborate with internal stakeholders including Marketing, Operations, Field Support, Safety, Legal, Facilities, and HR.
  • Identify gaps, execution risks, and process inefficiencies; define corrective actions and drive closure to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Champion productivity improvements by driving the adoption of automation, digital workflows, and data‑driven project management practices, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI) where appropriate to reduce manual effort and improve decision‑making.
  • Provide technical and business process expertise to support standard programs, escalations, and issue resolution across the organization.
  • Plan, facilitate, and document design reviews and alignment meetings to support the product development lifecycle and overall delivery schedule.
  • Define, implement, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) to improve delivery quality, lead time, cost performance, and overall team efficiency.
  • Support global teams by accommodating meetings across time zones as needed; travel is expected to be minimal.
Key Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong organizational and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor and/or display equipment product development methodologies.
  • Experience managing physical product releases; demonstrated ability to drive design releases to aggressive schedules.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, priorities, and stakeholders in a fast‑paced, matrixed environment.
  • Strong foundation in project management disciplines, including requirements definition, scheduling, execution tracking, risk management, and cross‑functional communication.
  • Demonstrated experience driving productivity improvements through process optimization, workflow automation, and standardization.
  • Working knowledge of AI‑assisted tools and techniques (e.g., automated reporting, data analysis, risk identification, or schedule optimization) to increase project visibility and reduce manual project management effort.
  • Proficiency with project collaboration and tracking tools, including Smartsheet, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint; experience automating or integrating these tools is a plus.
  • Experience with PLM tools such as Teamcenter.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive accountability and results through influence (without direct authority).
  • Ability to lead focused, efficient meetings and drive clear decisions and action items.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 3+ years of experience as a dedicated project/program manager supporting a technical team of subject matter experts.
  • 6+ years of experience in a technical role within a product development environment.

$110,500.00 - $152,000.00

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
