Full job description Director of Engineering | Brighton, CO | $150,000 - $185,000
Lead and develop the company’s engineering organization, including software engineers, data engineers, and infrastructure/platform engineers. Establish strong engineering standards for system design, code quality, testing, and deployment. Build a culture that values both operational stability and thoughtful innovation. Mentor engineers and help develop future technical leaders. Own the overall technical architecture of the company’s technology ecosystem. Ensure systems are designed for reliability, scalability, and maintainability. Guide architecture decisions across ERP systems, integrations, data platforms, and customer-facing applications. Evaluate new technologies and architectural patterns when appropriate. Lead the technical strategy for modernization of the company’s ERP and core operational systems. Evaluate build vs. buy decisions and technology platform options. Ensure new platforms integrate cleanly with existing systems and data models. Guide engineering teams through complex system migrations and transitions. Work closely with Product Managers to ensure engineering resources are focused on the highest‑value initiatives. Ensure development work is well-scoped, well-estimated, and delivered on schedule. Implement engineering processes that improve predictability, quality, and delivery speed. Oversee development pipelines, release management, and operational readiness. Ensure the reliability and performance of core infrastructure including servers, networking, cloud environments, and system integrations. Establish monitoring, incident management, and operational response processes. Ensure strong cybersecurity practices and system resiliency. Partner with the Director of Technology to align engineering priorities with business needs. Collaborate with business leaders to ensure technology solutions support operational goals. Work closely with product management to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Communicate technical tradeoffs and system constraints clearly to non‑technical stakeholders. Strong background in software engineering or systems architecture. Experience leading engineering teams in complex enterprise environments. Experience working with enterprise systems such as ERP platforms and system integrations. Deep understanding of software architecture, system design, and scalable infrastructure. Proven ability to balance reliability and innovation in technology organizations. Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to business leaders.
