Full job description

Position Summary : The Project Engineer is the entry point into Structor's project management track. This role keeps information moving - submittals, RFIs, procurement, and documentation - so the Project Manager and Superintendent can stay focused on execution. It is a learning position by design: expect close mentorship, steadily increasing ownership, and a clear path toward Assistant Project Manager.

Key Roles /
Responsibilities :

- Manage the RFI process end to end - draft, log, track, and close out requests, coordinating with the design team and field staff until each is resolved.

- Build the submittal log at project start and maintain it through closeout, reviewing packages against drawings and specifications before routing them.

- Procure and expedite materials, equipment, and subcontractor services against the construction schedule.

- Maintain document control: daily reports, procurement logs, testing and inspection logs, and change order logs.

- Distribute approved submittals, RFI responses, and revised drawings to affected parties promptly.

- Organize and archive project files so the full team and trade partners can find what they need.

- Prepare agendas, minutes, and action items for OAC, subcontractor, staff, and safety meetings.

- Assemble closeout documentation - as-builts, warranties, O&M manuals, and owner training materials.

- Project buyout, including subcontract and purchase order preparation.

- Change order identification, pricing, and distribution.

- Schedule development, updates, and progress tracking.

- Coordination of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other building systems across trades.

- QA/QC inspections, testing, and code compliance reviews.

- Job-specific safety plan implementation and weekly safety audits.

- Cost control, including subcontractor payment review and owner billing backup.

Required Education, Experience, and
Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or Business - or equivalent field experience.

- Zero to three years of construction experience. Internships and co-ops count.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and the ability to pick up new software quickly.

- Working ability to read plans, specifications, and construction documents, with the drive to get better at it fast.

- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to project sites.

- A strong work ethic and genuine interest in how buildings come together.

Working Conditions :

- Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.

- The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.

- Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels and demonstrate manual dexterity and be able to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.

- Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.

- Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats when needed.

- React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.

- Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.

- Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.

- Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.

- Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
