The Bartender is responsible for the courteous, efficient and accurate serving and delivery of meals and drinks to residents in dining areas and bar.; maintains a pleasant atmosphere in Dining Areas and all other areas within the Highlands property. Provides professional service during normal serving times and during special events.
Must be able to serve “up” drinks, mixed drinks and blended drinks, create monthly drink specials and interact well with the population. Knows and follows PLCB rules and regulations. Promotes positive attitude and mentoring services to waitstaff 1 members.
Also, when needed training new staff members.
- Provide quality service to all residents per standards of The Highlands at Wyomissing (Highlands).
- Perform job with a high level of energy and is self-motivated.
- Give great first impression with a proper and clean uniform, highly visible name tag, hair pulled back and proper hygiene.
- Greet residents by using their name and introducing yourself.
- Follow RAMP (Responsible Alcohol Management Program) steps when serving residents and guests.
- Maintain an adequate inventory level of mixed drink ingredients and drink menu items.
- Work as a team with all Highlands’ personnel to maintain an effective atmosphere and an efficient food and beverage service.
- Keeps fellow staff members advised of changes in work orders or rules.
- Work with others to keep all areas cleaned and stocked to Highlands’ standards at all times.
- Mix, garnish and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks for patrons of bar and dining room following standard recipes.
- Enter meal/drink orders into computer immediately, and charge to each resident account.
- Arrange bottles and glasses to maintain an attractive display in agreement with Highlands’ standards.
- Be attentive! Offer assistance before the guest has to ask for it. Be alert of guest signals (raising a hand, making eye contact, etc.), and acknowledge the guest to let them know the bartender will be right with them.
- Monitor and ensure that no resident/guest receives more than the allowed number of specific drinks.
- Learn residents/guests' names, occupations and favorite drinks.
- Basic knowledge of beer, wine and spirits, and familiarity with standard drink recipes
- Comfortable and agile working with technology; Proficient in MS Office and other applications.
- This position is full-time in a health care facility that is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as weekends, holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
- 1-3 years’ bartender experience in a food service setting such as hotel, restaurant, country club or retirement community (Preferred)
- Must maintain an applicable state health and/or alcohol compliance card.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Visual acuity must be adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
- This position is continuously required to walk, climb crouch, reach above shoulder, lift from waist level up, lift above shoulders/head, and lifting 25 lbs.
- This position is occasionally required to sit, bend, squat, crawl, kneel, balance, pull with force, push/push up to 350 lbs., lift from floor level up, lift 50 lbs. and lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
