QSAC is hiring Behavior Intervention Specialists (BIS) across QSAC Program! We are looking for committed and energetic Behavior Intervention Specialists (BIS) who will conduct, assess and develop behavior support plans, address challenges and train our Direct Support Professionals (DSP) in the Day Habilitation Program, Residential Program and Family Services.

- Behavior Intervention Specialists (BIS) for the Residential program must be able to travel to assigned residential locations in Manhattan, Bronx, Queens and Long Island locations. As a BIS you will provide functional behavioral analysis and behavior/psychological assessments, develop and monitor behavior support plans and assist with the development and implementation of individual goals. These roles can have some flexibility in start and end times, with weekly office hours. Please Note: These roles have some autonomy, but the BIS is required to drive and travel to assigned QSAC locations.

- Family Services Behavior Intervention Specialists (BIS) provide 1 to 1 services in the individual’s home and community. Applicants should have knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). The BIS will work with the individual, family and Direct Support Professional (DSP) staff to develop and monitor Person Centered Service Plans to assist the individual in achieving their personal goals.
Positions are available in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Long Island. The position requires traveling to the individual’s home and other locations in the community. Flexible schedule which requires some evening and weekend hours.
Please Note: QSAC requires Master degree requirements for BIS candidates for Day Hab and Residential programs, we can consider candidates with Bachelor degrees for the Family Services department and QIDP roles!
- Maintain coordination of active treatment services for people being supported in QSAC Day Habilitation programs in accordance with OPWDD regulations
- Develop/Monitor/Assess monthly goals and objectives to teach the valued outcomes outlined in Life Plans
- Write/Design and revise all individual goals and observe goals implementation by Direct Support (DSP) Professionals
- Maintain clinical paperwork as regulated by New York State (OPWDD) regulations
- Provide written goal summary for and participate in interdisciplinary meetings
- Review data collected and provide monthly updates on progress
- Assist with intake process which includes meetings, trial visits and clinical decision making
- Provide training to Direct Support Professionals (DSP) on skills and techniques to support people with autism by implementing the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA)
- Provide direct instruction for goal implementation and proactive and reactive strategies
- Assist with arrival and dismissal, fire drills and assist/support when typical staffing ratios are low
- Collaborate with program supervisors and help with staff disciplinary actions when necessary
- Ensure effective communication regarding behavioral issues of individuals
- Maintain an open, friendly, professional relationship with all staff and families. Set up meetings to resolve outstanding issues, as needed
- Be an advocate for improvement in to all facets of the program
- Treat all families with dignity and respect; allow for individual differences; provide an atmosphere of acceptance and caring
- Master's degree in one of the following human services professional fields (including, but not limited to sociology, special education, rehabilitation, counseling or psychology) required
- 1-2 years’ experience and training in applied behavior analysis (ABA) supports for people with autism highly preferred
- General knowledge of theories and principles of behavioral analysis, assessments and goal development preferred
- Experience supporting people with intellectual disabilities/autism required
- Attention to detail collaboration with a calm demeanor is essential
- Ability to safely assist lifting individuals of various weights & 20 lb. items.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced environment is required
