The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring the PADE DUET five-axis CNC machine to produce quality components in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and production schedules. Responsible for supporting efficient production operations by ensuring equipment performance, product quality, workplace safety, and compliance with manufacturing standards.
- Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, PPE requirements, and company policies.
- Set up and operate the PADE DUET five-axis CNC machine according to production requirements.
- Load and unload materials, fixtures, and finished components safely and efficiently.
- Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and CNC programs.
- Verify machine settings, tooling, and material specifications before production runs.
- Work with engineering staff to develop, verify, and improve CNC programs
- Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using measuring instruments and quality standards.
- Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and production efficiency.
- Troubleshoot machine, tooling, and process issues and coordinate repairs or corrective actions when needed.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and daily housekeeping tasks.
- Maintain accurate production, quality, and downtime records.
- Collaborate with production control, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to achieve operational goals.
- Participate in Total Productive Maintenance guidelines focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost reduction.
- Support continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
- Demonstrate consistent attendance, dependability, and a strong commitment to teamwork.
- Performs other duties as assigned and maintains the flexibility to move throughout the plant to support production needs and assist in various work centers as required.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Understanding of CNC machine controls, tooling, feeds, and speeds.
- Knowledge of quality inspection techniques and measuring equipment.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Basic computer skills for machine interfaces and production reporting.
- Ability to maintain attention to detail while working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Technical certification in CNC machining, manufacturing technology, or related field preferred.
- Experience with multi-axis or automated CNC machining equipment preferred.
- Experience in woodworking, aerospace, metal fabrication, or industrial manufacturing environments is a plus.
There are some essential physical requirements specific to our work environment, including being able to:
- Repetitive movements (hand, arm, leg); bending and twisting at the waist; bending at the knee; squatting; lifting, reaching, pulling, and lifting up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to work around moving machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Employee must be able to withstand heat more than 95 degrees in the summer and cold temperatures in the winter.
- Exposure to machine noise, dust, lubricants, and varying temperatures.
