Full job description

The Construction Lead Mechanical Field Engineer (CCGT) is responsible for activities of the mechanical field engineering team relating to construction engineering within the mechanical discipline.

Duties include interpreting mechanical design drawings and specifications, mechanical installation/fabrication including rotating equipment, tanks, vessels, centerline equipment, HRSGs, lifts & hoists, field verification of materials, and technical direction to field mechanical personnel as required. #LI-RM1

- Supervises a broad range of construction engineering work within a mechanical engineering discipline. - Directs construction engineering activities of the assigned construction engineering staff, ensuring compliance with procedures. - Coordinate with engineering on constructability and design issues relating to mechanical discipline such as maintenance plans, construction sequence and equipment setting plans. - Establish a mechanical design/field engineering working relationship and lines of communication with the Project Engineer, including agreement on mechanical engineering deliverables and overall construction application configuration management. - Direct the preparation of requisitions for field procured materials, material substitution, services and equipment such as mechanical equipment, shims, preventative maintenance consumables & testing equipment. - Develop and manage the mechanical construction quality program. - Coordinate with Field Supervision to plan/support construction schedules. - Plan and recommend mechanical procedures to be implemented by Field Supervision to ensure construction operations are within requirements of engineering design and specifications. - Coordinate activities to ensure mechanical materials, equipment and quality comply with design plans and specifications.

- Participates in the preparation / review of field change documents and requests for information. - Supports Contracts with the verification of change notices and amendments. - Ensures work methods planned and executed safely. - Assists with management decisions and activities regarding the mechanical programs

- Ensures Zero Accident Philosophy and requirements are implemented. - Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements. - Enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.

- Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, Supervision, Foremen and Craft Professionals. - Coordinates with Design on constructability issues. - Prepare testing processes and required test equipment. - Inspects installed components for technical acceptance. - Assists in development of Commodity Installation means and methods.

- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.

- Experience in combined cycle facilities is preferred. - Knowledge of rotating equipment, tanks & vessels, centerline equipment and HRSG installation preferred. - Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications. - Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards. - Excellent communication and problem-solving ability. - Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams. - Maintain, promote, and cultivate a safe work ethic and work environment within the craft. - Able to work extended work schedules and night shift as required to support the project execution plans and schedules.
