Woolpert is hiring an experienced Construction Manager to join our dynamic Construction Engineer & Inspection team at in St. George Utah to support our Aviation market. This role will collaborate closely with design engineers, project managers, and market leadership to deliver high-quality infrastructure and airport construction projects.
The Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing construction phase services, including inspection management, contractor coordination, and client communication. This individual will lead field teams, ensure compliance with contract documents, and implement best practices to drive quality, safety, and project success.
The ideal candidate will be located in Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, Missouri, or Texas.
- Manage construction inspection activities for infrastructure and aviation projects, ensuring compliance with contract requirements
- Lead and supervise inspection staff, providing direction, mentorship, and performance oversight
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure alignment on project goals and expectations
- Monitor contractor performance, including reviewing submittals and recommending corrective actions when necessary
- Oversee quality of materials and workmanship, ensuring adherence to project specifications
- Provide on-site leadership, including issuing field direction and supporting resolution of construction issues
- Track project progress, prepare daily and weekly reports, and maintain accurate documentation
- Develop meeting agendas, facilitate discussions, and document meeting minutes
- Review certified payrolls for compliance with Davis-Bacon wage requirements
- Promote and enforce job site safety standards and procedures
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- 15+ years of construction management or project management experience
- Strong understanding of civil engineering and land development construction practices, including means and methods
- Experience with construction inspection, observation reporting, and quantity tracking
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients and internal teams
- Ability to provide constructive feedback and guidance to team members
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction Certification (or ability to obtain)
- Ability to safely navigate construction sites and comply with all safety requirements
- This role requires approximately 60% travel to support onsite airport projects in the western US. (UT, CO, WY, TX and MO)
