Position Overview Regardless of assignment, every Library Support Specialist plays an important role in connecting community members with library resources, services, and opportunities for lifelong learning. Depending on assignment, responsibilities may include: Providing exceptional customer service Assisting patrons with library technology and digital resources Supporting library operations and public service areas Delivering or supporting library programs Maintaining welcoming, safe, and inclusive library spaces Collaborating across teams to provide outstanding library service View the classification specifications for additional details: Library Support Specialist (Full-Time) Library Support Specialist (Part-Time) Acceptable Experience and Training High School Diploma or GED; and Three years of customer service experience, including at least one year in a library setting; or An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the position.
Licenses/Certifications Depending on assignment, some positions may require: Valid Driver's License and safe driving record. Positions assigned to the Connect work area must obtain and maintain a State of Oregon Notary Public Commission within six months of hire. Additional Information Bilingual incentive pay available Preference may be given to candidates who are bilingual in Spanish/English.
Employees who can demonstrate the ability to speak Spanish, or any language spoken by over ten percent (10%) of City residents as documented by the most recent U.S. Census, at a proficiency level determined by a fluency test administered by the City, will receive a monthly premium of three percent (3%) of their regular base pay.
