IT Business Analyst 2

  • Remote or Hybrid Eligible The Stanford Cancer Institute (SCI) is one of an elite number of National Cancer Institute-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the country, and is a prominent, dynamic, growing, and complex Institute within the Stanford University School of Medicine. The SCI actively works to build synergies and collaborations among faculty with cancer-relevant expertise from four Schools and over 30 departments across Stanford University. We seek a Study Start-Up Project Manager to help us enact our mission to reduce cancer mortality through comprehensive programs of cancer research, treatment, education, and outreach. Given the SCI’s mission, breadth, and depth, it employs over 320 staff members in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and forward-thinking environment with tremendous opportunities for personal and professional growth. The Clinical Trials Office (CTO) is an integral component of the Stanford Cancer Institute since the vital work performed there enables our adult and pediatric cancer centers to translate research from the laboratory into the clinical setting. You will be working with an unparalleled, leading-edge community of faculty and staff who are fundamentally changing the world of health care in the cancer arena. Reporting to the Director of Research Services, the IT Business Analyst 2 will be conversant in specifying and/or designing solutions for business information systems and incorporating new technical systems to improve workflow, production, efficiency, and effectiveness. The IT Business Analyst 2 utilizes the OnCore Clinical Trial Management Application to capture and map business requirements and works with business partners to understand directions and priorities to assure the delivery of information technology solutions. This position will focus on supporting oncological clinical research, the production system, and ongoing maintenance, while maintaining close internal collaborations at Stanford with Spectrum and Technical Digital Services (TDS), and working with the vendor as needed. The OnCore Specialist will be part of a team responsible for the collection and quality assurance of NCI required data from Principal Investigators and research staff, develop and deploy Stanford user-oriented documentation and training sessions, provide ongoing support to users throughout the Cancer Institute and School of Medicine, perform protocol and subject data entry into OnCore, collaborate on, implement and roll-out new OnCore features and functionality, develop and follow set standards for how data is entered into the OnCore database, develop study calendars and electronic Case Report Forms (eCRFs) in OnCore based upon protocol specifications for Investigator-initiated trials, analyze clinical data from the eCRFs and generate tables for use in presentations publications and posters, and prepare customized reports about Stanford clinical trials and their accrual for the NCI, Cancer Center Administration, and Principal Investigators. Collaborates with Project Managers to support accurate and timely data reporting to ClinicalTrials.gov and CTRP, and partners with Data Analysts to ensure high‑quality NCI data submissions and compliance with all reporting requirements. IT Business Analyst 2 will continue to learn the system and expand their knowledge as new functionality is introduced. May serve as project lead. DESIRED

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working knowledge of clinical trial design, FDA regulations, IRB process and requirements and good clinical practice.
  • Experience working with the OnCore system from Advarra Research Systems desired.
  • Experience with SQL development tools (such as SQL Developer); experience with data visualization tools (such as Tableau) is desirable.

Responsibilities

Core

Duties :

  • Translate business processes into system requirements and/or development of systems solutions.
  • Analyze new business requirements, assist with feasibility of enhancement requests, system functionality, current system use and user needs.
  • Specify functional analysis and design and work with developers and analysts to recommend solutions and resolve system issues.
  • Review, research and evaluate software to determine its usefulness and appropriateness as related to existing or proposed business systems; assist or develop preliminary and detailed system design documentation.
  • Perform testing of new systems, upgrades and patching of existing systems; plan, conduct and document results of testing.
  • Develop instructional materials, training and job aids.
  • Advise users requiring assistance in solving complex problems or issues regarding management and business systems.
  • Analyze data and provide data sets to users for analysis. May include development of operational and analytical reports for end users.
  • Liaise with external vendors or partners in support of business systems, which may include system development, implementation and/or operations.
  • Coordinate the implementation of new or modified business systems. Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and five years relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
  • Knowledge of computer system capabilities, business processes, and workflow.
  • Experience with enterprise applications and understanding of database driven applications.
  • Strong understanding of the software development life cycle.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques used in conducting management studies and in systems analysis.
  • Current knowledge of rapidly changing computer technology.
  • Skill in conducting interviews and facilitating group meetings.
  • Skill in developing and conducting training programs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to bridge functional and technical resources by communicating effectively with individuals of varying systems expertise and business needs.
  • Strong listening, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to design and document complex business systems.
  • Proven problem solving and analytical thinking and ability to approach problems logically and systematically.
