What you'll do... Role summary: As a Staff Software Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, driving the full software development lifecycle from coding to deployment and maintenance. You will apply cloud-native architecture principles to enhance system resilience and agility while integrating AI/ML technologies to advance intelligent automation.
This role requires technical leadership, mentorship, and collaboration across teams to ensure high-quality solutions aligned with business objectives. You will influence architectural decisions, promote engineering excellence, and continuously improve processes to support Walmart’s technology goals and operational success.
About the team: The Sponsored Campaign Management Team develops scalable Java-based microservices to efficiently manage campaign attributes aligned with platform goals. The team emphasizes collaborative engineering, iterative development, and continuous testing to ensure high-quality software. Integrating AI components and applying object-oriented design principles, members drive innovation and effective problem-solving.
Cross-functional collaboration supports delivering reliable, customer-focused solutions within a structured development lifecycle. Commitment to technical excellence, design reviews, and continuous learning enables the team to meet evolving business and platform objectives while fostering a culture of accountability and engineering rigor.
What you'll do:
The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area. Option 2: 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area, We value candidates with a background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
