Full job description

- Erect the structural framework for high rise buildings, bridges, power plants and towers

- Place reinforcing steel in concrete forms for roadways, foundations and structures

- Use information from a variety of sources in order to select proper materials and the needed amounts for a project

- Use details from written plans and instructions from supervisors in order to securely bolt metal structures together

- Transport heavy metal pieces from the ground level to a higher location using tools like cranes or working with other team members to help position pieces correctly

- Ensure proper placement, balance and alignment of structural pieces by using levels, laser tools or plumb bobs

- Transform metal pieces into functional elements by cutting materials and using fabrication techniques

- Minimum 1 year working with heavy industrial environment experience preferred but not required

- Possess a strong work ethic and practice safe working habits

- Must be able to work overtime, either planned or unplanned for emergency situations

- Must be able to read technical documents and service manuals

- Must be able to work outside under all weather conditions to include working in the heat and cold weather

- Perform the rigorous manual labor required by the trade and have a natural ability to work at high elevations

- Completion of an apprenticeship program from the local union hall
