A Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) helps electric utilities connect and manage distributed energy resources such as solar, battery storage, and wind generation. As a DERMS Co-Op, you will support the Digital/IT team as it helps implement this solution by building test environments, configuring applications and integrations, assisting with device checkout, and validating that the system works as designed. This role is intended for engineering students who want hands-on experience with modern grid technology, software configuration, system integration, and solution testing.

Under supervision, the co-op will be learning and beginning to perform the following responsibilities:

  • Assist with DERMS environment building and setup across cloud and on-premise components, including configuration support for development, test, and implementation activities.
  • Learn and support DERMS application configuration activities that enable distributed energy resource configuration, forecasting, optimization, and control use cases.
  • Support integration configuration with enterprise and operational technologies, working with engineers, internal business units, Digital partners, and vendors as directed.
  • Execute solution testing, including test preparation, test data validation, functional checkout, defect documentation, and regression support.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation such as configuration notes, testing evidence, checkout records, runbooks, and standard operating procedure updates.
  • Support troubleshooting and operational readiness activities by reviewing logs, monitoring information, and test results with the DERMS Engineering Team.
  • Participate in team reviews and continuous improvement efforts that support a reliable, resilient, and scalable DERMS solution.
