Work in a normal industrial environment with inherent background noise, dirt, high humidity, and temperature variations. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and in precarious places.

Maintain the Coater (Machine) running by sew on rolls of carpet in a timely manner to keep the Coater supplied with carpet. One must verify roll information matches the roll info on the schedule.

Start by:

• Scanning roll ticket into system verify AS400 Matches Ticket information.
• Properly align carpet on sewing rail
• Trim minimum amount of carpet to achieve a straight edge.
• Sew carpet rolls together
• Monitor carpet for holes and other defects
• Tape holes
• Keep J-Boxes filled with Carpet
• Respond quickly to equipment or process issues
• Closely monitor the carpet
• Maintain a clean work area
• Conform to safe work practices
• Ability to read & write English
• Must have basic math skills
• Must have ability to communicate on a 2-way radio
• Must be able to speak English

This job has the responsibility and authority to report to management any quality and safety problems, and potential problems, that are encountered while performing the job. In addition, this job has the responsibility of the quality and safety of his/her own output.

Education, Experience, Training, and Certifications / Licenses:

High school diploma or GED preferred. Basic English grammar, reading, and math skills.

Ability to communicate on a 2-way radio.

Frequently required to stoop, kneel, stand, walk, crouch, reach, handle, sit climb and balance. Able to lift, up to 25 pounds of weight. Must be able to work 8 or 12 - hour shifts, either day or night, weekdays or weekends as scheduled. Must be able to work a 12 - hour shift to fill in for coworkers as needed.

Interpersonal skills, manual dexterity, mechanical skills, math skills, and judgement skills. Pays attention to details. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.

Carpet mechanical skills preferred.
