Job Description

AECOM’s Disaster Recovery Division is seeking a Site Inspector to join our team to develop our On-Call Cadre. The cadre is designed to build a roster of qualified candidates for temporary assignments. Placement is not immediate and will occur based on operational need.

Site Inspectors will be responsible for supporting FEMA Public Assistance (PA) disaster recovery operations by performing field inspections and damage assessments. This position requires the ability to work in rapidly changing environments and travel to disaster affected areas. Candidates must be willing and available to deploy on short notice, as needed.

The Site Inspector duties include :

  • Perform site inspections and damage assessments of disaster affected areas.
  • Document damages through photographs, measurements, notes, and inspection reports.
  • Verify damages, quantities, dimensions, and scope of work for eligibility.
  • Creates detailed written damage reports documenting damages to support FEMA PA project applications and generates reports, maps, photo markups to supplement site inspection documentation.
  • Ensure that program policies and procedures are adhered to and that inspections and documentation comply with applicable federal, state and local regulations.
  • Coordinate and communicate with internal team and external stakeholders such as clients, disaster affected persons, contractors.
  • Maintain professionalism and strong customer service while working with disaster-affected communities.
  • Conduct assessments and site inspections utilizing damage assessment technologies and site inspection tools, grant management software, and Microsoft Office Suite to document findings, track project information, and support program reporting requirements.
  • Completion or ability to complete FEMA PA site inspector training.
  • Ensure all safety requirements are met during site inspections.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • High School and 2+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid US driver’s license and ability to travel to work sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understands and interpret scopes of work, site plans and construction documents.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and extended hours as needed.
  • Ability to Travel and deploy on short notice.
  • Ability to work outdoors and navigate in disaster-affected areas sites while wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Familiarity with federal disaster recovery programs and funding sources, such as the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act.
  • Emergency management or safety related certifications are preferred.
  • Knowledge of Federal Emergency Management Agency Public Assistance (FEMA PA), Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) and the California Disaster Assistance Act (CDAA) funding.
  • Experience supporting large-scale disaster response and recovery.
