Software Engineer Staff III works effectively across the entire software development life cycle, including requirements definition, prototyping, detailed design, coding, testing, deployment, and support of the day-to-day operation of production systems.
The Software Engineer Staff III will collaborate with technical staff, management, and business operations staff to deliver solutions for complex business problems according to agreed timelines and budgets to support the mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health/Select Health.
Candidates who live in, or are willing to relocate to, Utah and are within a reasonable commuting distance to Select Health's offices are preferred.
Please note that a video interview through Microsoft Teams will be required as well as potential onsite interviews and meetings. This role will work Monday-Friday during regular business hours.

Essential Functions o Codes, tests, debugs, and documents programs, and enhances existing programs to ensure that production systems continue to meet user needs. o Follows secure coding practices, implement appropriate security measures, and stay informed about potential security vulnerabilities and threats o Coordinates interface with user management regarding project status, direction and user needs to promote an environment of user cooperation and satisfaction. o Coordinates with the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software. o Contributes to the development of high-level system architecture documents and detailed design specifications to serve as a guide for system/application development. o Assists with scheduling, determining manpower requirements, and estimating costs to project completion in order to meet user requirements. o Maintains a high-level understanding of industry application development best practices, tools, programming languages and techniques.
Keeps current with new developments in the information technology industry and assists in the development and implementation of standards and methodologies at the organizational and departmental levels. o Has a strong proficiency with deployment processes, version control systems (e.g., Git), continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and monitoring tools to ensure that software deployments are smooth, and any issues are addressed promptly. o Coordinates with analysts and consultants in the design and development of new software applications. o Works with external software suppliers to coordinate software integration and resolution of problems. o Works within an agile team including understanding how to participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, backlog grooming/refinement and sprint retrospectives.
Expert knowledge of software development methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban and experience working in an Agile environment. Job Specific Qualifications This Software Engineer role is focused on designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and robust software solutions.

Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education or experience is verified. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. Adept at conducting research into software-related issues and products. Able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
Strong written and oral communication skills. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Highly self motivated and directed.
Keen attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
Physical Requirements Interact with others requiring the employee to communicate information. Operate computers and other IT equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
See and read computer monitors and documents. Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.
