Full job description

- Assess spiritual and emotional needs of patients, caregivers, and families

- Provide spiritual counseling, emotional support, grief support, and compassionate presence

- Support patients and families through difficult conversations, transitions, and end-of-life experiences

- Participate in interdisciplinary team (IDT) meetings and care planning

- Collaborate closely with nurses, social workers, physicians, aides, and community clergy

- Help ensure holistic, patient-centered care aligned with patient goals and wishes

- Coordinate visits from local clergy or faith leaders when appropriate

- Build meaningful, trusting relationships with patients and loved ones

- Provide comfort and guidance while respecting diverse faiths, beliefs, cultures, and lifestyles

- Help families navigate grief, anticipatory loss, and emotional stress with empathy and sensitivity

- Serve as a calming and supportive presence during deeply personal moments

- Maintain ongoing professional development and continuing education

- Graduate of an accredited seminary or school of theology (BD, MDiv, or equivalent theological degree required)

- Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team environment

- Ability to support individuals from diverse cultures, lifestyles, beliefs, and backgrounds

- Excellent communication, empathy, and active listening skills

- Experience working with death, dying, grief, and family/caregiver support

- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance for field-based responsibilities

- Hospice, palliative care, or healthcare spiritual care experience

- Ability to quickly build trust and meaningful relationships

- Established relationships with community clergy and faith-based organizations

- Field-based visits in homes, facilities, and community settings

- A role centered on compassion, dignity, emotional support, and spiritual care

- Opportunities to support patients from diverse backgrounds and beliefs
