How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The Plant Cost and Assets Control Analyst is responsible for facilitating a detailed analysis of site costs, which means all aspects of understanding and improving the cost management practices at the manufacturing sites or the profit center level, and support site management to control on-site inventory, assets, and spare-parts. These goals will be achieved via a combination of (a) assisting with month-end close under the direction of the entity’s Finance organization and delivering detailed cost reporting, under the direction of the Senior US Plant Cost and Assets Controller, for relevant cost centers (Global Planning, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Quality, Safety, Engineering, etc.) to site management, (b) preparing recurring and ad-hoc site-level data analysis under the direction of Ops Control to ensure the proper categorization of costs, (c) developing asset, inventory, and consumable spare-parts management discipline (d) supporting site management to identify the opportunities to ultimately eliminate inefficiencies throughout all aspects of the manufacturing sites and, (e) enabling Investment Management and Ops Control to review operating asset performance vs expectation.

The role will also ensure that costs are appropriately classified, and reported accurately. The analyst will enable the Operations Control team, Financial Reporting team, Planning, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Quality and Safety teams to help develop and analyze costs, assets and investments to support the site’s ambitions.

This position will offer a unique experience with enriching contact between Manufacturing and Finance. This position will report directly to the Senior US Plant Cost and Assets Controller. The position is based out of Air Liquide Advanced Materials' Head Office in Branchburg, New Jersey but requires cycling on-site presence and is not hybrid or remote.

  • Bachelor’s in Finance with demonstrated capability in cost analysis and 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment or;
  • Bachelor’s in Engineering with 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment and demonstrated aptitude for financial analysis, and;
  • Proficiency in Google Sheets and Google Slides
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Experience partnering with site personnel, and willing to engage people from all levels in order to increase cost awareness of the site
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience creating detailed reports and giving presentations
  • Commitment to uncompromising accuracy in data management
  • Ability to think critically, and manage multiple tasks and priorities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Costs and Inventory Analysis:

  • Enable the Senior US Plant Cost and Assets Controller to review, and analyze the evolution of monthly costs, including determination of trends, and assist in maintaining costs within budget assigned by operations control;
  • Facilitate the efficiency program at site level, under the direction of site leaders and the Senior US Plant Cost and Assets Controller, to enable site management to achieve the cost optimization objectives set by Site Management and Ops Control;
  • Ensure the performance of valuated inventory cycle counts, and the biannual physical count by site personnel in accordance with Internal Controls criteria, under the supervision of Entity Finance;
  • Ensure the performance of annual mobile asset counts and maintain accuracy of valuated mobile assets
  • Provide monthly inventory, mobile asset, and consumable spare-parts consumption analysis
  • Explain any deviations vs expectation to entity Finance and Ops Control managers in close collaboration with the team on site;
  • To plan for, and rationalize mobile asset and fleet investments required by the site in close coordination with Operations, Product Management, Technical Market, under the leadership of the Central Mobile Asset Management organization
  • Implement robust, standardized processes to manage and oversee spare parts consumption;
  • Support site management, Operations Control, and Investment Control to enable the review of the realization of expected benefits for investments (fixed and mobile) on-site;
  • Review exception reports from SAP, and enable site management to maintain the quality of data and reliability of information streams in a satisfactory level;
  • Enable Ops Control to monitor profitability of ALAM products at site level;
  • Assist entity finance manager for month-end close procedures as assigned, and to ensure accurate cost allocation across cost centers while assessing variances;
  • In coordination with the Senior US Plant Cost and Assets Controller, perform cost accounting for all US sites, including standard cost analysis for materials, and enable updates to material costs, bills of materials, and routings in SAP.
  • Lead the development of reporting metrics, tools, and carry out complex, ad hoc analysis as necessary;
  • Up to 60% travel with on site presence rotating between all 5 ALAM US manufacturing sites (at least 1 day per site per week in New Jersey and Pennsylvania; at least 3 days per site per month in Florida and California) - except as defined during month-end-close periods by the entity’s Finance management.
