The Lead GIS Analyst serves as a technical leader within the IT Department, partnering with stakeholders across the organization to deliver enterprise geospatial solutions that support operational and strategic business objectives.
This role provides expertise in GIS architecture, data management, system integration, automation, analytics, and application development while driving best practices, mentoring team members, and supporting data-driven decision-making across the enterprise. Job
Responsibilities: Include but are not limited to Serve as the technical lead and subject matter expert for enterprise GIS solutions, architecture, and best practices. Design and execute complex spatial and operational data analyses to support business initiatives and strategic decision-making. Lead GIS projects involving thematic mapping, data conversion, quality assurance, and geospatial product delivery.
Architect, develop, and maintain automated ETL workflows using FME, Python (ArcPy), SQL, and Snowflake to improve efficiency and scalability. Integrate geospatial and operational data across multiple business systems to support enterprise reporting, analytics, and decision-making. Manage and govern GIS data environments, including ArcSDE geodatabases and SQL Server platforms, ensuring data integrity, performance, and reliability.
Design, develop, and support web-based GIS applications within ArcGIS Enterprise, including dashboards, Experience Builder applications, and related solutions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define GIS strategies, implement enterprise integrations, and align geospatial solutions with business needs. Establish and promote GIS standards, data governance practices, and process improvements to ensure sustainable, scalable solutions.
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to GIS analysts and business users while evaluating and recommending emerging GIS technologies. Required
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Minimum ten (10) years of GIS experience utilizing ArcGIS and related technologies, including ArcGIS Pro. Minimum ten (10) years of experience designing and supporting FME workflows and data integration solutions within the oil and gas industry.
Minimum eight (8) years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Advanced knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, and related Esri technologies. Strong programming and scripting experience using Python, ArcPy, SQL, and related technologies.
Demonstrated expertise in enterprise GIS architecture, geospatial data management, and system integrations. Proven experience leading complex GIS projects and providing technical mentorship to GIS professionals. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred
Qualifications: Master's Degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Experience supporting upstream oil and gas operations, surface infrastructure, facilities, and associated datasets. Expert-level understanding of FME architecture, workflow automation, and enterprise integration strategies.
Experience establishing GIS governance standards and enterprise data management best practices. Demonstrated ability to identify and implement innovative GIS solutions and process improvements. Proven attention to detail and ability to solve complex technical and business challenges.
