Systems Software Engineer, Missile Defense National Team (Associate, Experienced, Senior)

The Boeing Company is looking for a Systems Software Engineer, Missile Defense National Team (Associate, Experienced, Senior) to join the team in Colorado Springs, CO or Huntsville, AL to support the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS).

The Boeing Missile Defense National Team (MDNT) was established in 2004 to develop and deploy the Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) Command, Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) system. This system ingests data from sensors around the globe to create a single source of information for the warfighter to enable engagements.

The C2BMC Program is a full lifecycle defense contract providing solutions across the engineering capability to include system architecture, development, deployment, operations and maintenance, and sustainment of the Missile Defense System (MDS). This work integrates efforts from multiple companies (teammates) with systems engineering experience in model-based systems engineering (MBSE), requirements development, modeling and simulation (M&S), network design, integration and test, and analysis.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate, Experienced, and Senior Level Software Engineers.

This position will focus on supporting the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). The Boeing Missile Defense Programs support the Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) mission to develop and deploy a layered Missile Defense System to defend the United States, its deployed forces, allies, and friends from missile attacks in all phases of flight.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position may require the ability to obtain access to an MDA facility. Access to the facility requires a background investigation by U.S. government authorities.

- Work with industry partners as a key contributor to design, develop, maintain, and test new and existing Java-based applications in support of the C2BMC applications.

- Support full software development lifecycle including generating design artifacts, implementing software changes, supporting design and code reviews, software testing, and resolution of issues found during testing

- Actively participate in agile planning and execution using established processes

- Software Requirements and architecture development in support of MDS systems

- Develop, select, tailor and deploy integration and test processes, tools and metrics

- Execute and document integration and test activities and events

- 2+ years of experience with backend development (Java, Spring, Oracle SQL, SQL Server)

- 2+ years of development, deployment and version control tools such as Git, Eclipse, Jira and VersionOne

- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

- 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

- 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

- Strong understanding of software development principles including OOP, design patterns, and testing/debugging techniques

- Understanding standard system engineering design artifacts such as System Requirements, Use Cases, and SysML diagrams

- Experience using Eclipse to develop Java-based software applications

- Experience developing Command and Control software application

- Security+ or equivalent certification within 60 days of starting

- Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to review performance issues, identify root causes, recommend and develop a solution
