We are looking for a Quality Control Manager to lead one of our production quality control teams at our factories in the Costa Mesa area. This role will manage multiple supervisors with leads and inspectors for the quality control team. You will partner with heads of production, product quality engineers, manufacturing engineers, and our production teams to ensure quality controls are executed as per expectations.
This is not just inspection but leading the development of the controls as well as what happens when controls are exceeded. As a leader, you will be accountable for labor, processes execution, continuous improvement, and advocating quality behaviors across the various production functions. You will partner across the organization and help prioritize process and product quality issues that impact the effectiveness of the control process and the quality of Anduril's products.
This role will focus on both product quality issues as well as process issues that impact efficiencies and completeness quality control operations.
- Drive a safety first culture and mentality with your team and partners. Expedite resolution of any safety issues impacting the environment.
- Manage our quality control resource plan for the sites and processes, including resource planning, recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and performance management.
- Ensure that employees are trained & qualified on work instructions, procedures, and hands-on functions, documenting training records. Must be able to pass internal audits.
- Establish performance management and quality controls / insights using dashboard data, production priorities meetings, and collaboration with data reporting teams.
- Develop and maintain Quality control standards, ensuring consistent application through staff training.
- Drive resource alignment and inspector capabilities for: Incoming/Receiving Material Inspection, In-process inspection, End-of-line Inspection, material containment, and MRB inspection operations.
- Drive quality process improvement (QPIs) and investment in manufacturing execution system (MES) and quality management systems (QMS) procedures.
- Collaborate with other quality control managers & product quality engineers to ensure consistent execution of the quality controls.
- Collaborate with Quality Engineering in the creation of inspection plans for incoming materials, parts, and assemblies from suppliers and monitor their compliance
- Utilize Lean Principles to improve key KPIs/Processes such as On-Time Delivery and Product Quality
- Propose, develop and implement quality assurance policies and procedures and review with the product quality engineers
- Partner with Development Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Product Quality Engineering to support the new product introduction and prototype part process. Work with incomplete inspection requirements and early design phase parts to capture observations and identification of possible key and critical characteristics that may impact the final inspection plan/procedure/part drawing or specification.
- Ensure equipment and facilities are ready and available to meet quality control requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations or related field of study
- 5+ years of progress Quality and/or Regulatory experience within the Aerospace industry
- Strong understanding of QMS & AS9100/ISO requirements and/or FAA/EASA regulations
- Prior exposure to the manufacture of electronic components for Aerospace application
- Write and update standard operating procedures (SOP) and understanding of FAIR, COC, production metrics
- Perform data collection and statically analysis on the data to drive decisions
- Strong attention to detail, observation, organizational, and leadership skills
- In-depth knowledge of Quality Improvement and Lean Manufacturing methodologies
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities in a production environment
- Experience with Calibrated equipment (calipers, micrometers, CMM, Faro arm, OMM, etc.)
- Knowledge & understanding of dimensioning and tolerancing as per Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- A strong understanding of PCBA manufacturing processes, soldering and testing methods.
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings (wire diagrams, work instructions, CAD)
- Analyze inspection results and provide feedback to production, manufacturing engineering, and quality engineering departments.
- Experience with communicating with suppliers and cross functional teams
- U.S. Person Status is required as this position needs to access controlled data
- Technical degree in related quality/mechanical/aerospace engineering field
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, Quality Improvement Associate, or equivalent. IPC-A-610 or IPC-A-620 Certification
- Experience with inspection of Electrical and Electronic Components (Power Supplies, PCBs, wire-harnesses)
- Experience with data systems, QMS software, automated data collection tools, and a savviness to generate reporting, data visualization, and data queries.
- Experience in drafting and revising standard operating procedures and quality trouble shooting guides for inspection and quality control processes.
- Experience with Manufacturing processes and their related systems (Jira, MES, ERP, Teamcenter, CAD)
- Experience with auditing processes and procedures in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with validation and testing sub-assemblies and components.
- Experience working with suppliers along with Sourcing and Supplier Quality Engineering teams.
- Detail oriented self starter with minimal oversight - strong ability to communicate with different cross functional teams.
- Proficiency with computer-aided design (CAD) software and inspection data management software.
