Full job description

We're seeking a Principal Field Service Engineer to join our Commercial Engines Customer Technical Services team, supporting the global PW2000 and PW4000 engine fleet. This is a highly visible technical role where you'll partner directly with airline customers, maintenance organizations, and internal engineering teams to solve complex operational challenges, improve fleet reliability, and represent Pratt & Whitney as a trusted technical advisor.

What You Will Do: Serve as the primary technical advisor for airline customers and Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) facilities supporting the global PW2000 and PW4000 engine fleet, providing expertise in fan, compressor, mechanical systems, and nacelle components. Lead complex engine event investigations, perform root cause analyses, and develop technical solutions that improve fleet reliability, safety, and operational performance.

Partner with cross-functional engineering, Product Safety, Certification & Validation, and airframer teams to resolve technical issues, support engine modifications, and maintain continued airworthiness. Develop and review Engineering Authorizations (EAs), Special Instructions, and maintenance documentation while contributing to updates for engine manuals and other technical publications.

Provide timely technical support for Aircraft-On-Ground (AOG) events and other critical operational issues, collaborating with airline engineers, maintenance teams, and Pratt & Whitney Field Service Representatives. Identify recurring fleet trends and recommend process and product improvements that enhance customer support, engine reliability, and operational efficiency.

Occasional weekend and after-hours support are required to assist with urgent customer needs and Aircraft-On-Ground (AOG) events. Approximately 5% domestic and international travel is required for customer meetings, technical conferences, and safety or operational event investigations.

Qualifications You Must Have: Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and 8 years of aerospace engineering experience; or an Advanced degree in a related field with 5 years of aerospace engineering experience.

Qualifications We Prefer: Experience providing technical support to airline customers or Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) organizations. Experience with aircraft engine maintenance, troubleshooting, or field service support. Familiarity with commercial aircraft engine systems, maintenance documentation, and operational support processes.

This position is classified as: Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. Candidates will learn more about the role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process.

For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee's personal responsibility. The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance. This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
