Full job description

The SpaceX Supply Chain department plays a pivotal role in advancing Starship's ambitious mission. Leveraging the company's groundbreaking technological and market-transforming successes, our team will help build and manage an agile, resilient supply chain that delivers a powerful competitive advantage. Core functions include procurement, planning and fulfillment, supplier development and quality, logistics, and inventory management.

By excelling in these areas, Supply Chain will be instrumental in achieving SpaceX's aggressive growth targets and accelerating our journey to make humanity a multi-planetary species.

- Develop sourcing strategies for assigned categories to minimize risk and achieve key purchasing targets, including optimized payment terms, cash flow objectives, and significant cost savings

- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to design strategic sourcing models that maximize value from products and services while supporting business unit needs and driving continuous cost reduction across controllable spend

- Communicate, implement, and enforce compliance with established sourcing strategies

- Identify, plan, and execute cost reduction initiatives, including stakeholder coordination, timeline management, and regular progress reporting

- Conduct advanced quantitative and process analyses to evaluate financial impacts, identify cost improvement opportunities, and assess performance for assigned categories

- Partner with stakeholders to establish supplier SLAs and KPIs, then track performance against key metrics such as business results delivery, cost reduction, quality, and on-time performance

- Perform market research, benchmarking, and competitive analysis for assigned categories

- Collaborate with Legal to draft and finalize contract documentation

- Actively manage contracts to ensure suppliers meet all obligations and performance standards

- Analyze complex contract terms and interrelationships, applying creative yet sound business judgment to align them with operational needs

- Drive maximum value and cost savings while mitigating risk through skilled strategic negotiations

- Lead year-over-year cost optimization by identifying and eliminating waste and reducing unnecessary usage across operations

- Establish and maintain a roster of preferred suppliers for assigned categories

- Design and implement supplier management programs to develop, continuously improve, and monitor performance and KPIs across the supply base

- Issue purchase orders and resolve blocked invoices for assigned categories

- Lead initiatives to streamline processes and significantly reduce transaction volume for assigned categories

- Advanced degree and 4+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; or bachelor's degree and 6+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; or 10+ years of experience working in one or more of the following:

- Familiarity or experience working with machined metallic components for aerospace, medical, energy, or automotive applications

- Strong ability to read drawings and specifications with an understanding of manufacturing complexity

- Experience with technical procurement, manufacturing, or designing production components

- Ability to prove a strong track record of leadership and team building

- Remarkable problem solving skills with a bias for speed and positive impact

- Ability to learn quickly and prioritize appropriately to meet customer and company needs

- Excellent customer service skills, produce exceptional work at all times, highly self-motivated

- Effective written, verbal and presentation communication skills

- Strong technical knowledge and skills in current technologies and applications (e.g. MS Office Suite, SQL, Power BI, etc.)

- Detail-oriented, and able to respond quickly to a fast-moving and ever-changing environment

- Holds self to highest ethical standards, and conducts all activities with the highest of integrity

- Must be able to travel domestically and internationally for business needs - up to 50%

- Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed

- This position is based in Hawthorne, CA and requires being onsite - remote work not considered

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
