IMEG is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team in a brand-new Manhattan office, leading design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for moderate to complex healthcare projects. In this role, you'll work closely with engineers and consultants to provide project direction, deliver engineering solutions, mentor team members, and help drive successful client outcomes.
- Lead mechanical design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for moderate to complex vertical healthcare building projects
- Provide project direction and technical guidance to internal teams and external consultants
- Deliver engineering solutions and advice to clients to support positive outcomes
- Perform engineering analysis and oversee mechanical system design and implementation
- Coordinate work across cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations
- Support delivery of larger and high-complexity projects with limited support from senior staff
- Assist in training and mentoring efforts within the project team
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, required
- 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
- Advanced proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
- Advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics relating to mechanical design in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems
- Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays

In this role, you may support healthcare projects such as Weill Cornell Medicine Primary Care and Radiology and Brooklyn Hospital Center Emergency Department Expansion.
- Design HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems, central plants, building automation and controls, and energy recovery solutions
- Use lifecycle analysis, rapid energy modeling, and sustainable design practices to support occupant comfort, superior indoor air quality, and reduced energy consumption
- Contribute to innovative, high-performance mechanical designs across facilities such as high-rises and hospitals
- Bring experience with advanced HVAC system design (including geothermal systems, chilled beams, and industrial ventilation)
- Part of a team recognized with multiple international ASHRAE Technology Awards for energy-efficient HVAC designs
Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
