As an Enterprise Architect Sr., within PNC's Technology organization, you can be based in Pittsburgh PA, Strongsville OH, Birmingham AL, Phoenix AZ, Dallas TX or Denver CO.
The Enterprise Business Architect Senior collaborates with business and technology leaders across the enterprise to create and maintain the business architecture artifacts that connect strategy, capabilities, investments, and technology decisions.
This role enables enterprise and line-of-business strategic planning by applying capability-based planning practices to identify priorities, assess organizational capabilities, and guide business and technology investments. The Senior Enterprise Business Architect develops executive-ready business architecture views and planning artifacts that support investment prioritization, , transformation roadmap, portfolio rationalization, technology reuse, and enterprise transformation decisions.
This role serves as a key partner to business leaders, enterprise architects, solution architects, and technology stakeholders to ensure initiatives are aligned to business outcomes and enterprise priorities. This senior-level role requires strategic thinking, relationship management, facilitation, and analysis skills to guide stakeholders through business capability assessments, operating model discussions, target-state development, and transformation planning.
This role operates within a TOGAF-oriented Enterprise Architecture practice responsible for defining and maintaining business architecture artifacts, supporting architecture governance processes, and providing guidance from strategic planning through execution. ________________________________________ Key Deliverables Strategic Business Architecture - Translate enterprise and business strategy into capability maps, operating model views, and business architecture roadmaps. - Define target-state business architectures and capability priorities that guide investment and transformation decisions.
Capability-Based Planning & Analysis - Maintain enterprise business capability models and assess capability gaps, redundancies, risks, and opportunities. - Support portfolio rationalization and investment planning through capability-based analysis. Transformation Enablement - Partner with strategic initiatives to align business outcomes, capabilities, technology investments, and execution roadmaps. - Establish traceability between business objectives, capabilities, initiatives, and measurable outcomes.
Stakeholder Leadership - Facilitate executive and cross-functional workshops to drive alignment on priorities, target states, and transformation decisions. - Serve as a trusted advisor to business and technology leaders. Architecture Governance & Practice Development - Ensure business architecture artifacts, standards, and practices are consistently applied across the enterprise. - Contribute to the evolution of enterprise architecture methods, tools, and governance processes.
________________________________________ Preferred Skills & Competencies - Expertise in business capability modeling, value stream analysis, and operating model design. - Strong understanding of TOGAF, BIZBOK, or equivalent enterprise architecture frameworks. - Experience developing target-state architectures, roadmaps, and transition strategies. - Ability to translate business strategy into actionable architecture recommendations. - Experience supporting portfolio rationalization, investment planning, and transformation initiatives. - Strong facilitation, executive communication, and stakeholder management skills. - Ability to influence decisions across diverse stakeholder groups without direct authority. - Experience within financial services organizations preferred. - Familiarity with AI-enabled business transformation and cloud-enabled operating models. ________________________________________
Qualifications - 8+ years of experience in Enterprise Architecture, Business Architecture, Strategy, Consulting, or related disciplines, implementing business architecture practices within large, complex organizations preferred - Experience facilitating strategic planning, operating model assessments, or transformation initiatives. - Demonstrated ability to engage senior leaders and influence enterprise-wide decisions. - TOGAF certification or equivalent enterprise architecture experience. ________________________________________ Success Indicators - Business architecture artifacts are adopted and used to inform strategic decisions. - Business capabilities, investments, and technology initiatives are aligned to enterprise priorities. - Stakeholders demonstrate confidence in business architecture guidance and recommendations. - Architecture recommendations contribute to simplification, reuse, and measurable business outcomes.
- Provides subject matter expertise for enterprise architecture, enterprise architecture teams, and clients. Guides on enterprise architecture projects and business relationship management. Creates strategic roadmaps for transitioning to target enterprise future state, in alignment with business and technology goals while analyzing client requirements and collaborating with R&D divisions to provide ongoing support. - Leads in the implementation of enterprise architecture strategies and best practices to support business objectives, while focusing on enterprise standards, processes, and methodologies. - Provides guidance to enterprise architects on defining technical service capabilities, design attributes, draft enterprise profiles and segment architecture; controls risks and solves complex issues related to enterprise architecture. - Maintains relationships with stakeholders, addresses stakeholder requirements and provides clients consultations to shape the future success of enterprise architecture while also mitigating risk. - Provides enterprise architecture support by directing teams in baseline, target and roadmap development, transition planning, system and security management and segment architecture.
