Staff Software Engineer, Android, Level 6

We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join the Monetization, Ad Format Team. The team owns Snapchat's client-side ads stack on iOS and Android - Ad format rendering and delivery, plus the ad platform and inventory layers underneath. This Staff role will drive our ad inventory and platform work on Android, with a strong emphasis on networking and client performance.

We're looking for someone fluent in modern Android internals who's also leaning into the latest agentic development workflows to move faster.

- Push the limits of mobile devices and build great user experiences

- Build smooth, stable, and fun products

- Develop features from design through implementation and launch

- Evaluate technical tradeoffs of every decision and work with design on the best UI and infrastructure practices

- Perform code reviews that guarantee code quality

- Utilize AI tools and high velocity engineering workflows to design and ship scalable services while upholding rigorous standards for code correctness, security, and production ready quality code.

- Ability to use Kotlin, Java, RxJava, Dagger, and other great tools to build smooth, stable, and fun products

- Able to prioritize duties and work well on your own

- Proficiency in, or a strong aptitude for, leveraging AI tools to streamline development, paired with the critical judgment to audit generated output for architectural integrity, performance bottlenecks, and security risks.

- Adaptability in learning and applying evolving AI systems and tools to remain at the forefront of engineering trends and modern development practices.

- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field such as computer science or equivalent years of practical work experience

- 9+ years of post-Bachelor's software development experience; or Master's degree in a technical field + 8+ year of post-grad software development experience; or PhD in a relevant technical field+ 5 years of post-grad software development experience; or PhD in a relevant technical field

- 1+ years of experience with technical leadership or acting as the domain-expert to a technical organization

- Experience with Android application development

- Experience working with large-scale customer-facing mobile application

- Experience leading teams to deliver sophisticated initiatives

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position.

These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC) : The base salary range for this position is $229,000-$343,000 annually.

Zone B : The base salary range for this position is $218,000-$326,000 annually.

Zone C : The base salary range for this position is $195,000-$292,000 annually.

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
