Job Summary The Learning Commons Tutor provides academic support to LCCC students through one-on-one and group tutoring, online sessions, workshops, and class presentations. This role helps students develop subject knowledge, study skills, and confidence while fostering independent learning. Tutors also collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance student success and provide excellent customer service in a supportive learning environment.
Compensation: $13.33/hr. Priority Screening Date: Position is open until filled. Starting Date: As soon as practical after the hiring process.
Principal Responsibilities and Results, KSA's ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - this position is non-exempt and is eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA. This listing of essential duties is not all-inclusive, but representative, other duties may be assigned). Provide individualized and small-group tutoring sessions to enhance student understanding of course material, improve study skills, and foster independent learning, resulting in increased student confidence and academic success.
Maintain accurate tutoring records by documenting sessions, tracking student progress, and submitting reports to support data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement of tutoring services. Develop and refine instructional materials, including study guides and resources, to support diverse learning needs and align with course objectives, leading to improved student engagement and comprehension.
Promote Learning Commons services by conducting workshops, class presentations, and outreach activities, increasing student awareness and utilization of academic support resources. Participate in professional development, training sessions, and peer collaboration to enhance tutoring effectiveness, stay current on best practices, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor An employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well NOTE: This position description is a general description; it is not intended as an employment contract, nor is it intended to describe all duties someone in this position may perform.

Minimum
Qualifications: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and minimum grades of A or B in college courses related to the subject to be tutored. Completion of at least 1 semester of coursework related to subject to be tutored or 1 year of experience in a related field.
Preferred
Qualifications: Associate's degree in related field. Two years of employment in a field closely related to the subject(s) to be tutored Notes If you are selected for the position, your appointment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
