Meritus Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as Assistant Clinical Manager in our fast-paced Emergency Department . This leadership role is ideal for a nurse with proven clinical expertise and strong leadership skills, ready to take the next step in their career.
As the Assistant Clinical Manager , you will support the Clinical Manager in overseeing daily ED operations, lead independently during off-shifts, and contribute directly to quality improvement, staff engagement, and patient-centered care delivery. You’ll play a vital role in guiding the team toward achieving department and organizational goals—ensuring excellence in care and service.

Provide leadership and direction in the Emergency Department, particularly during off-shifts or in the absence of the Clinical Manager.

Support unit operations including scheduling, payroll, staffing, and performance evaluations.
•
Lead and participate in quality improvement and patient experience initiatives.
•
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and ancillary departments to ensure seamless care delivery.
•
Serve as a coach and mentor, promoting accountability, professional development, and a positive work environment.
•
Uphold standards of nursing practice in alignment with the Nurse Practice Act and ANA Code of Ethics.
•
Advocate for patient dignity, autonomy, and safety.
•
Identify and resolve barriers to effective communication and care delivery.
•
Drive cost-effective practices and support resource management strategies.
•
Foster an environment of evidence-based practice and critical thinking.

Minimum of 3 years acute care nursing experience required, 5 years preferred
•
Prior leadership experience preferred (e.g., educator, committee chair, charge/resource nurse)
•
Current Maryland RN license or a Multi-State Compact RN license (with Maryland eligibility)
•

ACLS, PALS, NRP, or other unit-required certifications
•

•
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team
