The Anchorage Pioneer Home is recruiting for multiple full-time positions in the General Government Union. The positions are multiclass, to be filled based on the qualifications of the candidates.

The Mission of the Division of the Alaska Pioneer Homes Is: "Providing elder Alaskans a home and community, celebrating life through its final breath."

This position is a member of an outstanding nursing and direct care staff and plays a vital role in providing person-centered care and support in a safe environment for up to one hundred seventy-seven (177) elder residents.

Other Job Information:
  • This position is in support of the Pioneer Home, which is a 24-hour facility.
  • This Pioneer Home is an Eden Alternative facility, where the environment includes contact with plants, flowers, and pets including cats, dogs, fish and birds.
  • Employees of the Pioneer Home receive continual screening for tuberculosis and criminal history.

CERTIFIED NURSE AIDE

Eligibility for certification to practice as a Certified Nurse Aide in the State of Alaska.

Special Note:

Candidates not currently certified by the State of Alaska, who otherwise meet the eligibility requirements for certification as a Nurse Aide in the State of Alaska and requisite qualifying experience, may apply for vacancies in this job class. Applicants qualifying under this option may receive a conditional job offer; however, proof of certification will be required prior to final appointment and reporting for duty.

Additional Required Information At time of interview applicant must provide:
  • Two (2) professional references (including work/supervisor-related) and three (3) character references (personal) with current contact information.
  • For Certified Nurse Aide 1 position, present a copy of current State of Alaska Certified Nurse Aide certificate or proof of eligibility for licensure.
  • If selected and prior to hire, applicant will be asked to:

  • Submit to fingerprinting and criminal background check screening.
  • Provide current evidence to be free from active pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) with test results dated within the last 12 months prior to start date.
  • Provide a copy of current CPR and First Aid certificate(s), if available.

    The Working Environment You Can Expect: This job is in the Anchorage Pioneer Home, an assisted living home at 923 W 11th Ave in Anchorage, Alaska. It overlooks an area known as the Park Strip with views of the Chugach Mountains easily visible from most floors of the home. This position works under the direction of a registered nurse as part of our direct care staff and is responsible for aiding and personal care to the residents living in the home.
