Duties and Responsibilities To teach assigned undergraduate and graduate courses, including via distance delivery modes as required; To develop an extramurally funded research program that results in publications in leading scholarly journals; To present research work at leading scholarly conferences; To serve as chair or member of committees in charge of student candidates for advanced degrees; To participate in curriculum development activities including the development of curricular materials and special instructional methods; To supervise independent study activities; To serve as academic advisor to students; To serve on Department, College, and University committees; To render service to the professional or lay community which is relevant to the individual's academic specialty; Support the recruitment, retention, and graduation of all students in the College of Engineering; Participate in initiatives toward the creation of curriculum to impact electrical and computer engineering knowledge; To perform related tasks as assigned.
Associate Professor Duties and Responsibilities In addition to the duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Professor rank, To serve as department chair when selected.
Full Professor Duties and Responsibilities In addition to the duties and responsibilities of the Associate Professor rank, To assume a role of professional leadership in the department and in the scholarly discipline.
Assistant Professor Minimum Qualifications An earned Ph.D. (All-But-Dissertation (ABD) applicants will be considered; degree must be earned before the date of hire) in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a closely related discipline from a university of recognized standing by the start date of the position; Demonstrated strong commitment to teaching excellence and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Demonstrated scholarly achievement, evidenced by a track record of conducting research and publishing scholarly materials; Potential to develop externally funded research programs and research collaborations; Effective communication skills.
Associate Professor Minimum Qualifications An earned Ph.D. in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a closely related discipline from a university of recognized standing by the start date of the position; A minimum of four years of full-time college or university teaching at the rank of assistant professor or equivalent, with evidence of increasing professional maturity.
Demonstrated strong commitment to teaching excellence and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Demonstrated scholarly achievement, evidenced by a track record of publications and adequate for the Associate Professor rank in comparison with peers active in the same field at major research universities; Demonstrated experience in securing extramural funding; Evidence of participation in the scholarly and academic affairs of a university or other appropriate organization or an appropriate professional society or organization; and Excellent communication skills and ability to engage successfully in the workplace.
Professor Minimum Qualifications An earned Ph.D. in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a closely related discipline from a university of recognized standing by the start date of the position; A minimum of four years of full-time college or university teaching at the rank of associate professor or equivalent, with evidence of increasing professional maturity.
Demonstrated strong commitment to teaching excellence and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Demonstrated scholarly achievement, evidenced by a track record of publications that have resulted in significant recognition by the national or international community of scholars active in the same field; Demonstrated experience in securing extramural funding; Demonstrated the ability to mentor graduate students to completion of M.S. and Ph.D. degrees.
Evidence of participation in the scholarly and academic affairs of a university or other appropriate organization or in an appropriate professional society or organization; Demonstrated capacity for leadership in the department and scholarly discipline; Ability to undertake a variety of assignments within the university; and Excellent communication skills and ability to engage successfully in the workplace.
Assistant Professor Desirable Qualifications Strong research record in the area of computer engineering and applications in cyber-physical/IoT systems, Internet/mobile/embedded systems and applications, computer systems, robotics systems and applications, autonomous vehicles, cloud/edge computing, big-data systems and applications, data science/artificial intelligence, next-generation wireless systems, or related fields.
Demonstrated experience in obtaining extramural funding from the federal government or industry; Demonstrated ability in establishing interdepartmental, interdisciplinary, and cross-disciplinary activities in teaching and research; Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate levels; Associate Professor Desirable Qualifications In addition to the desirable qualifications of the Assistant Professor rank: Demonstrated professional leadership and service in related conferences and journals.
Professor Desirable Qualifications In addition to the desirable qualifications of the Associate Professor rank: Received honors or awards recognizing outstanding research contributions to the given field.
