Full job description

We are seeking an Engineer I to join our Development team. This role will support process and project design engineering, with an emphasis on process development, engineering documentation, and process flow development. The position includes hands-on work in the lab and pilot plant and will partner closely with scientists, engineers, and operations teams across RD&E, Development, and manufacturing support functions.

This role is based onsite in New Britain, Pennsylvania.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in chemical engineering and early exposure to process engineering, pilot plant operations, scale-up, or technical development in chemicals, energy, manufacturing, or related industrial environments. Candidates should be excited to work in a hands-on startup environment and contribute across lab, pilot, and engineering activities.

- Build hands-on familiarity with AIRCO's lab and pilot plant operations through structured onsite training and project work

- Work with Senior Engineers/ Technical Specialists to develop process flow schemes

- Work under the direction of Senior Engineers/ Technical Specialists to develop engineering design templates

- Work with Senior Engineers/ Technical Specialists to develop engineering tools for equipment design

- Review data, schematics, drawings, and process documentation for accuracy and quality.

- Support senior engineers on cross-functional development projects and technical problem-solving

- Support evaluation of new process technologies and development of process solutions

- Analyze data and communicate findings and recommendations through written summaries and verbal updates

- Ensuring compliance with relevant engineering design standards/guidelines, as well as, environmental, health and safety regulations.

- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline

- 0 to 2 years of relevant industry, internship, co-op, or research experience

- Exposure to process development, pilot plant operations, scale-up, or process engineering

- Familiarity with engineering, modeling, or data analysis tools such as AutoCAD, Aspen, Python, Matlab, or similar tools is a plus

- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and willingness to work hands-on in lab and pilot environments

- Collaborative, proactive, and eager to learn in a fast-moving technical environment

- Familiarity with common engineering, modeling, and data analysis tools such as AutoCAD, Python, Matlab, Aspen, or similar tools is a plus

- Exposure to catalysis, separations, thermal processes, or related chemical engineering concepts
